Chevrolet Townsman Headlights: Find Your Replacement Townsman Headlight Assembly

Station wagons have been a significant investment for families in the early 30s and been a useful mobility for errands and chores even to these days. Among the famous ones back then is the Chevrolet Townsman, which became available for the public in 1953 to 1957 and due to public demand was reproduced in 1969 to 1972. Townsman, as these vehicles were called were available in two series: the 210 four-door station wagon and the luxury Di-Noc Woodgrain featured Bel Air. At first, all of these were available in eight passengers but in 1957, they were reduced to six-seater configuration. Standard to them all were the 235.5-cid inline six-cylinder engine, which were replaced with V8 in 1955.

The Chevrolet Townsman models were manufactured in two runs. The first was in eight-passenger and the second was based in rear-wheel drive GM B platforms with both six- and nine-passenger seats. Further improvements were applied to every Townsman all throughout five years of production. The six-cylinder engine was also dropped and V8s become standard. From its normal 327 to 427 cubic inches in the first run, it was redesign to 350 to 454 cubic inches that provides more passenger room and cargo area. Wheelbase was also improved alongside, from 119” to 125” making it the longest regular car ever produced by Chevrolet.

Among other important features improved were the power rear window and the optional electrically powered tailgate that disappears beneath the floor. These were one of the firsts in then booming automotive industry, making ownership of Townsman a real treasured investment. Another very significant part of the continual innovations in the model was the addition of Turbo Hydra-Matic transmission, which was introduced in all1971 Chevrolet models and thereafter. Because of the modernization and continual evolution in the auto world, more and more models in the station wagon class were released but the Bel Air series remain.

Today, there are more automobiles that are coming to provide better performance and greater features for the riding and driving public. But Bel Airs and 210 series of Chevrolet Townsman are still very important road mainstays. They are among the collectors items for those that appreciate real craftsmanship and functionality. Its artful design and panel styling are among the legends that are tried to relive in these days, using more modern performance parts and devices. But one thing remains, Townsman made a big impact in the station wagon class that also promoted family togetherness anywhere they go.
