The Hyundai Tiburon is a compact coupe made by Hyundai. The car has been in production since 1996 and Hyundai has announced that the last model of the Tiburon will be the 2008. The Hyundai Tiburon is a competitive entry in the sports car market but market enthusiasm for the Hyundai Tiburon have generally been mild. The Hyundai Tiburon is one of the more popular cars from Hyundai. The car's sporty design and performance has made it popular among the street racing crowd although the negative perception of the Hyundai brand name has certainly given the car a lot of difficulty in capturing the market. The car was first produced by Hyundai in 1996 and was entered into the American car market as a relatively low priced sports car alternative. The car is also known as the Hyundai Coupe in other markets. The Hyundai Tiburon has been released in two generations, the first being the RD generation and the second generation being the GK generation. The RD generation are the 1996 to 2001 car models and the GK generation are the car models from 2002 up to 2008. The GK generation completely revised the original design of the Hyundai Tiburon giving the car leaner, more modern look which brought the car up to date with its competitors. The major selling point of the Hyundai Tiburon is primarily its low price tag and its unbeatable warranty offer. In terms of style and non performance features, the Tiburon belongs to the lower end of the sports car market. Performance wise, the Hyundai Tiburon is still not quite there yet. This has led to the low market position of the Hyundai Tiburon although the low price and generous warranty of the car still generates sales for the car. The 2008 Hyundai Tiburon is basically the same as the earlier GK models of the car. The base model of the 2008 Hyundai Tiburon is powered by a 2 litre 4 cylinder engine with an output of 138 hp. Upgrade models have a better performing V6 2.7 litre engine with an output of 172 hp. Aside from the SE trim, all Hyundai Tiburon 2008 models can either have a 5 speed manual transmission or a 4 speed automatic transmission. The SE model is only available with a 6 speed manual transmission. Safety features of the Hyundai Tiburon include ABS, antiskid systems, traction control and front side airbags. Performance wise, the Hyundai Tiburon has a 0 to 60 rating of 8.2 seconds, about what can be expected from a mid range sports car. The handling of the Tiburon can be on the squishy side, although steering is quite informative. The Hyundai Tiburon is also prone to a slight body lean when cornering. The car is also quite sensitive to the road and ripples on the road surface are transmitted to the driver. Road noise is also a problem with engine noise and tire noise intruding into the cabin. The Hyundai Tiburon is also a bit of a gass guzzler especially under quick acceleration. The Hyundai Tiburon will only be a good buy for sports car buyers who don't care what they are getting as long as it looks good and is low priced. Otherwise, the Hyundai Tiburon is just not a good enough car. For a low priced sports car, the experience is as expected, abysmally lacking. Headlights by State: ______________________
