Toyota T100 Headlights: Find Your Replacement T100 Headlight Assembly
The Toyota T100 was a pickup truck available in mid size and full size produced by Toyota. The car was first produced in 1992 and was discontinued in 1998. Toyota had established itself as a firm competitor in the compact truck market for the North American car market during the 1980s. Boosted by this success, Toyota decided to enter the mid size and full size pickup truck. Their first entry into that particular car market was the Toyota T100. Upon its release, the Toyota T100 experienced slow sales with and the total number of units sold by 1996 was unexpectedly low. This was because of the low market perception of the Toyota T100. Although the Toyota T100 was a big enough truck, many still criticized it to be inadequate for full size truck buyers. Actually, the Toyota T100 offered an 8ft full size truck bed. However, it did feature the engine and suspension mechanisms that were more fit for a compact truck. The official line of Toyota was to claim that the Toyota T100 was designed to offer the space and convenience of a full size truck with the comfortable riding profile and economical fuel consumption of a compact truck. Thus, the Toyota T100 truck was not offered with a V8 engine. This put the Toyota T100 at a disadvantage with its other competitors who carried mostly V8 engines under their hoods. Toyota proclaimed that a V8 engine was coming for the Toyota T100 but this never materialized. Thus, throughout its production run, the Toyota T100 received a poor market perception and a lot of criticism. This led to the low sales of the truck and it was eventually discontinued by the 1998 model. The Toyota T100 was made for rough and rugged handling and featured several construction engineering that made the truck very durable and tough. The engines offered for the Toyota T100 were a 2.7 litre I4 engine capable of 150 hp, a 3.0 litre V6 engine capable of 150 hp and a 3.4 litre V6 engine capable of 190 hp. A Supercharged 3.4 litre V6 engine was also available which gave an output of 265 hp. The transmission available for the vehicle was either a 4 speed automatic or a 5 speed manual. With the I4 engine, the Toyota T100 really could not perform very well. The V6 engine gave it a large performance boost. The automatic transmission was sluggish on the road and made for slow passing power and difficult uphill driving. To get the best out of the engine, the manual transmission was definitely a much better choice. The ride of the Toyota T100 was unparalleled in its class. It drove smoothly and evenly on smooth road and slightly bumpier ones. The high profile of the vehicle did give it some lean on tight turns but it was above average in its class. The Toyota T100 was quite refined for its class. The Toyota T100 is great for those who want the size convenience of large trucks and the comfort of a compact truck. Related Bookmarks
