The trim 4WD has a conventional floor-mounted selector for the transfer case. Other 4WD trims have Autotrac, featuring an automatic setting that shifts into 4WD once wheel slippage is detected. Thee optional "Duramax" turbo diesel V8 that makes 365 hp and 660 lb-ft of torque is also beneficial. Duramax provides an amazing payload and towing capacities of 3,458 and 13,000 pounds. The standard six-speed automatic transmission of the latest Silverado 2500 holds better performance and fuel economy as compared to last year's four-speed unit. In the interior, keyless entry, the deep-tinted windows, a CD player, chrome grille trim, full power accessories, alloy wheels, cruise control, cloth seating, an auto-dimming rearview mirror and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. Regarding the safety features, there are the antilock disc brakes and a tire-pressure monitor. Stability control and side curtain airbags are however not available. An optional Safety Package is also comprised of the power adjustable pedals and rear park assist.
