The Kia Sedona, also known as the Kia Carnival is the minivan car market entrant from Kia Motors. In other car markets, the Kia Sedona is known as the Kia Carnival. In the North American and the UK car markets, it is known as the Kia Sedona.
In the minivan car market, the Kia Sedona is one of the preferred minivan choices. The Kia Sedona was first introduced in 1999 and is still in continuous production up to the present. Throughout its production period, two generations of the Kia Sedona has been produced. The first models of the Kia Sedona had a low powered engine and lacked features which made it unpopular in the car market. Later models, however received several upgrades, increasing the engine power of the Kia Sedona as well as adding features which made it more competitive with other car models in its class. The second generation of the Kia Sedona had an even more powerful engine and more features to offer. This generation of the Kia Sedona is also based on the Hyundai Entourage. The Kia Sedona proved to be quite a successful entrant to the minivan car market for Kia. In sales, it soon outstripped its competitors. This is true even for the first generation Kia Sedona models, although they were underpowered and lacked features found in their class competitors. This is mainly attributed to the low pricing of the Kia Sedona which was often lower by $10,000 compared to its competitors.
The first generation of the Kia Sedona had a V6 3.5 litre engine which was capable of 195 hp. The transmissions available were 5 speed automatic, 4 speed automatic and 5 speed manual transmissions. These first generation models had few features and often suffered from a low fuel efficiency. The Hyundai Entourage based second generation of the Kia Sedona featured the LAMBDA engine of Hyundai. Later models offered a a V6 3.8 litre engine capable of 244 hp. The latest, 2008 version of the Kia Sedona features a V6 3.8 litre engine capable of 250 hp. Safety features for the 2008 Kia Sedona included traction control, ABS, antiskid system, curtain side airbags and front side airbags. The luxury package of the Kia Sedona featured leather trims, sunroof, rear obstacle detectors and power adjustable pedals. Handling for the Kia Sedona is what can be expected from a minivan, which is to say that it feels heavy and prone to body lean. The powerful engine gives it enough go even in highway driving. Fuel efficiency, a common weakness in minivans, is par for its model line.
The Kia Sedona is a good choice for a minivan. It is unbeatable in terms of value for money in its class which is the main reason why it is a fast selling minivan. Headlights by State: ______________________
