The Cadillac STS is the successor of the long running Cadillac Seville line of car models. Once the Cadillac Seville was taken out of production, the Cadillac STS became the replacement luxury car model of Cadillac. The "STS" in the name of the model actually stands for Seville Touring Sedan, a nod to the origins of the car. Since its introduction in 2005, the STS has been relatively well received by car buyers. The Cadillac STS is the highest priced model of the Cadillac line of cars and is the flagship model of Cadillac.
Once the long running Cadillac Seville was retired, Cadillac replaced it with the Cadillac STS, a car whose styling made it more appealing to the newer car markets. The Cadillac Seville sales had already begun to flag and Cadillac made the decision to discontinue the Seville models and revitalize its luxury car line with the more modernly designed Cadillac STS. The Cadillac STS gained quite a bit of respect for the Cadillac upon its release. It had a fair bit of detractors too. For those who liked the car, many of them were impressed by the car's performance which was stable and powerful enough to be play with its higher priced competitors. Detractors of the car called notice to the decidedly non-luxurious like detailing of the interior of the car. Overall, the Cadillac STS is a moderate success for the Cadillac company.
The first generation of the STS car was based on the Sigma platform of GM and was a rear wheel drive vehicle, a welcome change for many car and Cadillac enthusiasts. The car carried a Northstar DOHC V8 engine mated to either a 5 speed or 6 speed automatic transmission. The Cadillac STS was also available as an all wheel drive car. It also featured the Magnetic Ride Control suspension, touted to be the fastest reacting suspension ever. Technically speaking, the Cadillac STS received plenty of love from the tech people in Cadillac. The car has automatic features from the grill to the trunk. The Cadillac STS is chock full of electronic goodies. For starters, the car has power adjustable steering wheel, power adjustable front seats, automatic dual zone climate control, keyless entry and sonar assisted rear parking features. The car can also be started remotely so that riders don't have to get into a too hot or too cold car.
For a flagship model, the Cadillac STS certainly carries the Cadillac badge quite well. The car is an all around performer. It has power enough for quick sprints and for long distance running. The Cadillac STS is also as luxurious as they come. In terms of ownership cost, the car may be on the steep side at the start but once the relatively high gas mileage and the usual ten year warranty is considered, the car is a great choice for luxury car buyers.Headlights by State:
