The Chevrolet S10 Blazer is a mid-size SUV from General Motors. This is a simple ride that is not exclusively designed for any age. Meaning, a professional or even a student can drive it confidently down the road. Its Production began in 1983, alongside the larger K5 Blazer and Jimmy. This however has lasted through 2005. The retail sales of Chevy Blazer in US after 2004 were limited to two-door Blazer models, and all other models being sold to fleets, until April 2005. In Canada, four door models of the Blazer and Jimmy were sold until the 2004 model year. S10 and other models fall under the S-series model, which were actually based on the Chevrolet S-10 and GMC S-15 pickup trucks. These were produced in different states like Ohio, Louisiana, New Jersey, Brazil, and Linden. The most recent Blazers are locally produced in Brazil using their own sheet metal stampings. In North America, only 4-door vehicles are produced. Chevrolet S10 is competitive with other relative models. It used to have a 4.3 L V6 option, which was also used with the Astro and Safari vans, based on the ubiquitous Chevrolet Small-Block V8 engine. Such engine generate a respectable 150 hp (110 kW), wherein the power output was increased to 160 hp (120 kW) during the next upgrade. Regarding the physical specs, the first generation had the dimension of 2-Door: 170.3 in (4326 mm), 4-Door: 176.8 in (4491 mm), which is good enough to carry 6-7 passengers. The smooth transmission of Chevy Blazer is either 4-speed automatic 5-speed manual, depending on the year model. The 4.3-liter engine flaunts a torque at low engine speeds, generating strong acceleration around town. This is further benefited with the towing power. Suspensions are among the least compliant but the 4-door's longer wheelbase enhances ride quality. On the negative side, expect bouncy and bang over bumpy roads. The interior is not as spacious as a Grand Cherokee or Explorer but rest assured that the interior features offer comfort for every rider. Dashboard layout is pleasing though some controls are a long reach. Moreover, the radio buttons are small. Interior noise can be another complaint from passengers. Though Grand Cherokee and Explorers beat the Blazer in refinement, Chevrolet S10 Blazer remains competitive as a smaller sport utility. So whenever you are in need of a cute yet functional and good-looking SUV, this Chevy Blazer will make your ride. The price is just right considering its great features. Related Bookmarks
