Isuzu Rodeo Sport Headlights: Find Your Replacement Rodeo Sport Headlight Assembly

The Isuzu Rodeo Sport was a mini SUV introduced by Isuzu as a competitor to the burgeoning mini SUV market at the start of the 21st century. The Isuzu Rodeo Sport received poor market reception and was discontinued after receiving a production run of only 3 model years.

The Isuzu Rodeo Sport was set to compete in the SUV markets along with the Isuzu Rodeo. Whereas the Isuzu Rodeo competed in the mid size SUV market, the Rodeo Sport was set to compete in the compact SUV market. Although carrying the Rodeo marque, the Isuzu Rodeo Sport was not really based on the Isuzu Rodeo but was actually a renamed Isuzu Amigo. The Isuzu was the first SUV launched by the car maker in 1989 which, due to the lack of popularity of SUVs at the time, was ultimately pulled out in 1994. Due to the rise in popularity of SUVs in later years, the Amigo line of SUVs were revived in 1998 and, by the 2001 model, it was renamed as the Isuzu Rodeo Sport in an attempt of Isuzu to latch the Rodeo Sport to its more successful Rodeo line of SUVs. The Isuzu Rodeo Sport was always considered to be a capable off road vehicle which was less refined on the road. Drivers who wanted to push their SUVs performance were duly impressed with the Rodeo Sport. However, the rough and rugged capabilities of the Rodeo Sport were also seen in its styling, especially in the interior and the lack of luxury proved to be one of its most visible failing. As the SUV market moved towards SUVs with more focus on luxury and on road performance than off road capabilities and ruggedness, the Isuzu Rodeo Sport ultimately lost ground to its competitors and was discontinued by 2004.

The Isuzu Rodeo Sport came in three model years, 2001, 2002 and 2003. The earlier lineup of the Rodeo Sport were named the Rodeo Amigo. The Rodeo Sport, along with its Isuzu Amigo predecessor, has always been a strong off roader. Engines available for the Rodeo Sport included four cylinder engines and V6 engines. The four cylinder versions of the Isuzu Rodeo Sport was available only as a rear wheel drive vehicle. The more powerful V6 engined Rodeo Sport offered rear wheel drive and four wheel drive. Standard equipment of the Isuzu Rodeo Sport included ABS and airbags, though side airbags were not included. Isuzu Rodeo Sport SUVs with the V6 engine perform quite well, giving impressive acceleration. The 4 cylinder models were sluggish and underpowered. The suspension is acceptably SUV like, although it tended to buck on more serious road bumps and holes. Handling was also impressively precise but the SUV could at times be skittery when cornering.

At lower prices, the Isuzu Rodeo Sport can be quite a bargain. However, the fact that the Rodeo Sport is several years old and that it is based on an even older platform certainly brings the appeal down. Off roaders should give the Rodeo Sport the benefit of the doubt. Compact SUV fans have better choices available for them.
