The Isuzu Rodeo is a mid size SUV built by the Isuzu vehicle company. The Isuzu Rodeo was sold from 1991 to 2004 and enjoyed prominence as one of the top sellers of the vehicle line up of Isuzu.
The Isuzu Rodeo name carries one of the more popular brand of trucks from Isuzu. Isuzu has long been popular as a vehicle manufacturer that focused on capable and aggressive trucks rather than cars. The Isuzu Rodeo was one model of Isuzu which seems to have exemplified this conviction of the company. Isuzu built the Isuzu Rodeo with the aim of making it tough and durable off the road and civilized and smooth driving on it. Unfortunately, the Isuzu Rodeo competed in a vehicle market which was filled with other lucrative competitors. Many of these competitors understood the concept of an SUV better than Isuzu did. As a truck manufacturer, Isuzu made the Isuzu Rodeo to be more of a truck and less of an SUV. Thus, the Isuzu Rodeo turned out to be more of a truck type SUV than a pure SUV. This ultimately led to the decline in sales of the Isuzu Rodeo.
The Isuzu Rodeo was built for stability and ruggedness. The engine of the Isuzu Rodeo featured powerful 4 cylinder, 6 cylinder and V6 engines which focused more on power than speed. The Isuzu Rodeo could either be a rear while drive or a 4 wheel drive. However, 4 wheel drive needs to be disengaged when driving the Rodeo on dry pavement. The Isuzu Rodeo was also available as an Ironman trim which gave the SUV a sturdier and more powerful set of equipment. This was discontinued in later models of the SUV. In terms of performance, the Isuzu Rodeo performed well for a truck. As an SUV, it could not compete with other vehicles in its class. Acceleration and speed is better with the bigger engines and the Rodeo had good speed for highway driving. However, the need to disengage the 4 wheel drive of the Rodeo was a minor nuisance. The suspension of the Isuzu Rodeo also lacked finesse and was prone to bumps and it also handled more as a truck than an SUV, offering plenty of body lean on turns. Fuel economy in the Isuzu Rodeo was on the average in the SUV range of vehicles.
The Isuzu Rodeo is a good choice for those who are looking for a capable off roader. However, for those who want an SUV experience, there are better choices available. Headlights by State: ______________________
