The R20 traces its roots to the Chevrolet Suburban, a large sport utility vehicle offered by General Motors under Chevy brand. The ancestor of the R20 is a well-regarded vehicle. In fact the Suburban line is considered as the longest-lived automobile nameplate. The very first Suburban of Chevy was introduced in 1935 and after that this model showed no signs of slowing down. These years were the times when the designation of vehicles was changed by GM. This means that the C10 and the C20 means half ton and quarter ton. The use of R designation and the R20 was made in 1988 through 1991 when GM decided for another shift. This means that the R20 is simply the old C20 of Chevy. The years 1986 and 1987 saw the change in engines from carburetors to electronic injection. The 1987 version of the R20 pick-up 2wd used diesel for its fuel and the vehicle registered respectable fuel gains. The 1987 version of the pick-up submitted 15 miles per gallon for city driving and another 20 miles per gallon for highway driving. This means that the combined figure of the vehicle registered 17 miles per gallon. The 1987 version of the R20 pick-up was also available in gasoline and made use of three engines. These engines include the 4.1L version of the 6 cylinders, the 4.3 L version and the 8 cylinders 5.7L engine. The 1987 version of the pick-up can seat up to five persons. The vehicle’s poor fuel efficiency makes the vehicle not a good choice when it comes to daily driving and cruising, but if the R20 will be used to power or to pull great loads then the owner of the R20 will be thankful.
