Chevrolet, as one of the top auto brands in the world never ceases to introduce revolutionary, practical, and high performance rides. It has continued its commitment of meeting the demands of its customers. No wonder, it has become a top-selling and the most popular brand ever introduced and produced by GM. Chevrolet offers more than 20 vehicles of different trims and enhanced versions. One of these is the Chevrolet Prizm.
Chevrolet Prizm was a United States market entry-level compact car that ranges from year models 1989 to 2002. Its predecessor was the Chevrolet Nova which proves to be one of the most successful compact cars in the automotive world. It was actually a rebadged version of the Toyota Sprinter, an upmarket version of the Toyota Corolla marketed in Japan. Each Prizm was engineered and manufactured at NUMNI (New United Motor Manufacturing Inc.), Toyota and GM’s partner. It has debuted in 1989 for the GM’s Geo-brand of import cars and in 1993, it was redesigned to make it more spacious. This has resulted in an upgrade to EPA compact car status. A driver air bag and a new 1.8L 4-cylinder engine on the LSi trim were included. With a larger engine, a rear stabilizer bar, slightly wider tires, and an optional automatic transmission with 4 speeds were integrated. All Chevrolet Prizms are powered by the same engine used in Toyota Corolla models. The 1990-1992 Geo Prizms are supported by the 4A-FE or optional 4S-GE engine, the 1993-1997 year models with 4A-FE or optional 7A-FE engine, the 1998-2002 Chevy Prizms with 1.8L 1ZZ-FE I4 engine, and the 2000-2002 models with the same engine but includes a VVT-I (Variable Valve Timing with Intelligence Technology).
Introduced as a 4-door sedan with high-end style and design, the Chevrolet Prizm boast its standard features that includes bucket seats, center console, lighted entry system, power brakes, 1.8L DOHC 16V FI engine, 14 inches wheels, 5-speed manual transmission, steel wheels, driver and passenger front airbags, cloth seats, rear bench seat, power steering, remote trunk release, air conditioning system, intermittent windshield wipers, automatic on/off headlights, daytime running lights, power exterior mirrors and other auxiliary devices like the AM/FM audio system. Above all, the safety features of the Chevrolet Prizm are rated as satisfactory. The only drawback is that, ABS does not come standard.
Overall, the Chevrolet is an economical compact car that maintains fuel economy of about 32 mpg city/37 mpg highway. Though it posses that ho-hum personality, still its performance on the road is remarkable and dependable. This well-engineered and clean styled sedan is the best for on-road driving that demands greater fuel efficiency. Headlights by State: ______________________
