GMC P1500 Headlights: Find Your Replacement P1500 Headlight Assembly

Business owners are hard to please customers. This is the reason why in their selection of trucks and vans that can be used in their businesses, they usually put a premium on the vehicle’s cargo capacity and construction. And one van in the market that didn’t disappoint was the P1500.

This step-van of GMC was in the market for a long time and was the favorite of businesses in the late 60s and the 1970s. This step-van version of GMC was also in production in the 1990s and the 2000s and offered great services to many individuals involved in many businesses. The P1500 is the half-ton version of the P-Series that was popularized by GMC.

The engine that was used by the P1500 varies throughout its lifetime. For 1967, the vehicle used the straight-6 engine. The engine was gasoline-powered and the van version of 1967 came with the 3-speed as a standard. The 2000 version of the van used a V6 engine and comes with the 6-speed transmission as the standard. This van of GMC is trusted for its performance but this nameplate has its share of problems as well. There are a number of years where the P1500 was recalled due to some safety issues. One significant year wherein the P1500 was recalled happened in 1973. The van recall date happened February 15, 1974 and the P1500 van was one of the vehicles that were affected. The problem on the van was traced to the service brakes and its hydraulics. Another recall was made in 1973 and the date was January 29, 1973. The problem of these vans was traced to the service brakes, and its pedals and many linkages. Only around 255 vehicles were considered to be affected by the problem. The year 1974 was also a year of recall for the GMC P1500. One of the latest issue with the van happened in the 200s. Some equipment of the vehicle was considered at fault and the automaker ordered the recall. To be more specific the automaker traced the problems on the van to certain HP4 and HP8 oil filters that were produced from May 25, 2006 until September 14, 2007 were affected since the gasket of the oil filter becomes more pliable under high temperatures and pressures. When left unattended, this can lead to inadequate sealing and loss of engine oil. And at worst case scenario can help start the fire on the vehicle.

Certain remedial steps were recommended by the automaker in order to address the problem. The problem was solved via the issuance of replacement. Honeywell replaced the affected oil filters on the P1500 free of charge. Other than this problem, the story of the P1500 in the market continues as a vehicle of reliability and dependability when it comes to business applications. The step-vans like this entry from GMC are used by most on-the-go businesses like catering and delivery thanks to the P1500’s ever-reliable cargo capacity. One business that depended on the roles played by the step-vans like P1500 is the UPS.
