Mecury Monterey Headlights: Find Your Replacement Monterey Headlight Assembly
The Mercury Monterey was a minivan sold by Mercury, a division of the Ford Motor Company focusing on the upscale car markets. The Mercury Monterey sold poorly and was discontinued after the 2007 model year. The Mercury Monterey name was first used by Mercury from the 1950s up to the 1970s for a full size car available in both sedan and coupe car body makes. In 2004, Mercury used the name again as the marque for their latest minivan vehicle after they retired the Mercury Villager, their former minivan car market entry. The Mercury Monterey was based on a Ford vehicle, specifically the Ford Freestar. The Ford Freestar is also based on the Ford Windstar and was mainly just an update of that vehicle. Even though the Mercury Monterey was based on the Ford Freestar, it was carried a higher price tag due to the more upscale trims and features of the vehicle. It also came standard with the 4.2 litre engine, unlike the Ford Freestar. Sales for the Mercury Monterey were very low. The Ford Freestar also experienced low sales but the Mercury Monterey sold in even lower numbers. The low sales of the Mercury Monterey was mainly attributed to the inability of the Mercury Monterey to compete in its particular segment of the car market. Many critics stated that the Mercury Monterey just did not carry enough refinement and did not present anything new to the minivan car market. The Windstar legacy of the Ford Freestar and the Mercury Monterey were very visible. They also offered no notable features. The minivan market was also experiencing a decline in car buyer interest. The last of the Mercury Monterey vehicle models to be manufactured were the 2007 model year vehicles. The Mercury Monterey is basically just the Ford Freestar and both vehicles share mainly the same mechanical parts. The Mercury Monterey had a 4.2 litre V6 engine with an output of 201 hp. The only available transmission was a 4 speed automatic transmission. It has a front engine front wheel drive layout. The Mercury Monterey could seat 7 passengers in relative comfort and the vehicle offered second row bucket seats which could be flipped and folded forward. The third row was a bench seat which could be folded to the floor. The car was available in three trims, the Convenience trim, the Luxury trim and the Premiere trim. The base trim is the Convenience trim. The standard equipment of the Mercury Monterey include 4 wheel disc brakes with antilock feature and rear park assistance features. The Premiere Trim featured a power lift gate as standard along with traction control and antiskid features. The Luxury trim offered front side airbags, curtain side airbags and three seating rows. Road performance for the Mercury Monterey was about average for a minivan. It had adequate acceleration, comfortable seating with adequate bump dampening, competent steering and handling and a tendency for body roll on tight turns. The Mercury Monterey is a good minivan which brings little on the table in its particular class. Performance is merely adequate except for fuel consumption which is one of its low points. This car is far outstripped by its competitors but, for a bargain car buyer, this could be a good buy. Related Bookmarks
