Mercury Montego Headlights: Find Your Replacement Montego Headlight Assembly

The Mercury Montego is a full size vehicle sold by the Mercury division of the Ford Motor company. The Mercury Montego received low sales in the American car market.

The Mercury Montego was first released by Mercury in 2005. The Mercury Montego was a rebadged version of the Ford Five Hundred. To differentiate itself from the Ford Five Hundred, the Mercury Montego received a more luxurious trim than the Ford Five Hundred as well as some aesthetic changes. After the discontinuation of the Mercury Sable, the lineup of car models under Mercury had a gap. This gap was filled by the Mercury Montego and the Mercury Milan. In terms of size, the Mercury Montego is comparable to the Mercury Grand Marquis car model. The Mercury Montego is built in the Chicago plant of Ford and is marketed in both the American car market and the Mexican car market. However, the Mercury Montego is not available in the Canadian car market as the Mercury car marque has been retired in that particular car market. The Mercury Montego received a lot of positive press and most owner of the car have been quite impressed. However, sales for the car have remained low and the Mercury Montego car name has been changed. The Mercury Montego is currently known as the Mercury Sable. The reason for this change of name was that Ford had decided that the name 'Montego' was not very memorable for the target market of Mercury. Notable, the Ford Five Hundred has also been renamed as well as the Ford Freestyle.

The Mercury Montego is a four door sedan with a front engine front wheel drive layout. A four wheel drive version of the Mercury Montego is also available. The car is built on the Ford D3 platform and, under the hood, the Mercury Montego carries a Duratec 30 3.0 litre V6 engine with an output of 203 hp. The standard transmission for the Mercury Montego is a 6 speed automatic transmission. The AWD version of the car uses a CVT or continuously variable transmission. The standard equipment of the Mercury Montego include curtain side airbags, front side airbags, ABS and traction control. Notable, the Mercury Montego does not have an antiskid system. Other standard equipment include xenon headlamps, split folding rear seatbcks and a fold flat right front seatback. Optional features for the Mercury Montego include a navigation system, a sunroof, a rear obstacle detection system and a DVD entertainment system. On the road, the Mercury Montego features class average acceleration but the automatic transmission is prone to hunting especially on inclines. The suspension of the car is adequate, handling most road bumps confidently. Steering and handling is on par with class rivals but body lean is there but barely detectable on fast turns. Fuel consumption is also about class average.

The Mercury Montego has plenty of features to offer full size car buyers. The available AWD is certainly interesting but the lack of an antiskid system is questionable at this class level. All in all, its not a class topper but it offers a convincing package. Still, buyers should check out its more lower priced twin, the Ford Five Hundred to better appreciate the added luxury and the higher price of the Mercury Montego.
