The Mazda 6 is a mid size car manufactured by Mazda, a Japanese car maker. The Mazda 6 is known as the Mazda Atenza in its home market. Released worldwide, the Mazda 6 has proved to be a fast seller for Mazda.
The Mazda 6 vehicle was first released in 2002. In its home market of Japan, the car is known as the Mazda Atenza. The car was the first model of a new generation of Mazda vehicles which featured a new, more modern look that is in keeping with the modern world. The Mazda 6 replaced the Mazda 636. Since its release, several Mazda car models following its innovative design have followed which include the Mazda 2 and the Mazda 3 among others. Upon release, the Mazda 6 was a big seller for Mazda. Since its introduction, it is estimated that more than one million units of the Mazda 6 has been sold all over the world. According to records, this makes the Mazda 6 the fastest car model released by Mazda to reach the one million unit sold mark. The Mazda 6 is also raced in several international racing events include the Speed World Challenge Touring Car class and the Koni Challenge Series Sport Touring Class. The Mazda 6 has also received several awards for its performance and build quality.
The Mazda 6 has gone through two generations of production since its initial release in 2002. The latest version of the Mazda 6 is the 2008 Mazda 6. The 2008 Mazda 6 is available in two body makes which are a 4 door sedan and a 5 door liftback. The Mazda 6 is based on the Ford CD3 platform. It is available as either a front engine front wheel drive vehicle or as an all wheel drive vehicle. There are also a number of engines available for the car including a MZR 1.8 litre I4 engine, a MZR 2.0 litre I4 engine, a MXR 2.5 litre I4 engine, a MZI 3.7 litre V6 engine and a MZR-CD 2.0 litre Diesel engine. The transmissions available for the Mazda 6 are a 5 speed automatic, a 6 speed automatic which is specifically for the V6 version of the car, a 5 speed manual and a 6 speed manual transmission. On the road, the Mazda 6 has decent acceleration with the V6 engine giving the car the best acceleration performance. The automatic shifting is smooth and on the spot while the manual shifting provides for a better driving experience as well as better fuel economy. The suspension of the Mazda 6 is firm but it can handle most road bumps well enough. Handling is also impressive and the Mazda 6 offers little body lean on cornering. The Mazda 6 does suffer from a wide turning angle which gives it some trouble in enclosed space maneuvering. The fuel efficiency of the car is about class average.
For car buyers, the Mazda 6 is a great choice for a mid size car. It does not quite top the class but it is a solid car and it is easy to understand why the Mazda 6 is such a fast seller.
