The Mazda 5 is a compact MPV or Multi Purpose Vehicle made by Japanese car company Mazda. The Mazda 5 has experienced impressive sales ever since its release.
The Mazda 5 is actually the second generation of the Mazda Premacy. The Mazda Premacy first entered the market in 1999. In 2005, the car was redesigned and was exported as the Mazda 5. The Mazda 5 still retains its compact MPV format but many consider the Mazda 5 to be a superior vehicle to the Mazda Premacy. Officially, the Mazda 5 is classified as a mid size wagon but, for most car enthusiasts, the Mazda 5 is considered as a mini minivan. This is primarily because the Mazda 5 features a car like size and design yet features decidedly minivan like sliding doors. The Mazda 5 is based on the global C1 platform of Ford, the same with the Mazda 3. The Mazda 5 was released in the North American market as a major gamble for Mazda. Mazda was unsure of the the reception that the Mazda 5 would get from the north American market. Fortunately for Mazda, the Mazda 5 proved to be a successful car model and the car is one of the best sellers from Mazda in the North American market.
The Mazda 5 minivan features a front engine front wheel drive layout and is a 4 door 3 row minivan. The car is based on the global Ford C1 platform and the Mazda 5 is available with a number of engines. These are the MZR 1.8 litre I4 engine, the MZR 2.0 litre I4 engine, the MZR 2.3 litre I4 engine and the MZ-CD 2.0 litre I4 diesel engine. The transmissions available for the car include a 4 speed automatic, a 5 speed automatic and a 5 speed manual transmission. The safety features of the Mazda 5 include front side airbags, curtain side airbags and ABS. Optional features include a sunroof, leather upholstery, xenon headlamps, heated front seat and a navigation system. The Mazda 5 has enough power under its hood for modest acceleration performance in both passing situations and start from full stop situations. The automatic shifting performs flawlessly and the manual transmission is also impressively well done. The suspension of the Mazda 5 is on the firm side so some bumps do get through but not much. The handling of the car is impressively stable and the Mazda 5 is quite nimble for its class and gives minimal body lean on turns as well. Fuel economy is also impressive for the Mazda 5 and is one of the strongest points for this mini minivan.
The Mazda 5 is a solid performer as a mini minivan. Among the top of its class in terms of build and quality, the Mazda 5 offers the right package for a family multi purpose vehicle. It carries a high price tag, however but most car buyers will be impressed by the level of build quality that come along with that tag. Headlights by State: ______________________
