There are three trims available for the 2009 Toyota Matrix, the Base, the S and the XRS model. The XRS model is the more sporty model of the Toyota Matrix. The base model is available with a 1.8 litre engine capable of 132 hp. The S and XRS models are available with 2.4 litre engines capable of 158 hp. The car is a front wheel front drive layout vehicle. AWD is also an option for the Toyota Matrix. On the road, the Toyota Matrix performs quite well. The light, relatively small sized body of the Toyota Matrix coupled with its capable engines gives it a lot of go on the road. The lean, tall body of the Toyota Matrix translates to noticeable lean on fast cornering and a susceptibility to crosswinds. The Toyota Matrix is a good urban driving vehicle. It isn't going to wow anyone except, maybe with its updated stylings. However, it performs quite well and gives great returns for the money. This is especially true with regard to fuel economy.
