Chevrolet Lumina APV Headlights: Find Your Replacement Lumina APV Headlight Assembly

The Lumina and the Lumina APV are two distinct coming from the Chevy line-up. The first one was the sedan version that was introduced in 1989 and the second one, the APV was known as the minivan version. The distribution of the two vehicles that share the same name brought some confusion for the car-buying market but eventually General Motors saw the writings on the wall and dropped the APV and was then replaced by the Chevrolet Venture by the year 1997.

The minivan version of the Lumina was in production from 1990 to 1996. The body type and the overall design and the construction of the Lumina minivan were the same with that of the Pontiac Trans Sport and the Oldsmobile Silhouette. The APV in the name added to Lumina stood for all purpose vehicle, which means that the vehicle can be used for many purposes. And the introduction of this vehicle was one of the moves by General Motors in order to compete with the Dodge Caravan, the Plymouth Voyager, the Astro and the GMC Safari. But the market did not saw the difference with the Lumina version and the concept of the vehicle failed to captivate the market so the line was abruptly ended.

The Lumina APV used U-body vans that made use of the galvanized steel space-frame and then the body was wrapped in the composite plastic body panels. The construction and the choice of the materials enabled for the body of the APV to become rust-proof and more resistant to minor dents. This type of manufacturing technique was also used in the production of the Pontiac Fiero and the Saturn line of vehicles. The APV was passenger-friendly, and this was evident in its passenger seating. The APV featured seating for seven passengers and the five lightweight seats at the back are removable and can be configured as well. By 1994, the Lumina APV model introduced the built-in child seats as an option. This was also the model that offered the commercial variant that carried the rubber matter floor instead of the carpeting. The commercial one also removed the rear seating and the painted plastic panels.

In fact a number of innovations are introduced and featured on the Lumina APV that made this vehicle a favorite for drivers with big families. BY 1994, the minivan also included the remote-controlled power sliding doors that made access to the vehicle easier and convenient. This General Motors innovation also paved the way for other minivans to adopt the technology for convenience sake.
