Chevrolet Lumina Headlights: Find Your Replacement Lumina Headlight Assembly
General Motors and Chevrolet made a number of high-performance vehicles and vehicles that can be used not just on the street but also on the strip. And one such model that made its mark on the strip of NASCAR and on regular roads was the Chevrolet Lumina. The Lumina came in two body styles, in sedan and in min-van version. The introduction of the Lumina was a move by the car manufacturer in order to replace the Chevrolet Celebrity sedan and coupe and the Monte Carlo coupe. Production of the vehicle was made in Ontario at the Oshawa Car Assembly Plant. The year that the car-buying public first met the Lumina was in 1989 and 1990. It was in the year 1989 as well when the Lumina was used as the nameplate under which the Chevy brand competed and raced at the NASCAR. The introduction of the vehicle in the circuit happened a year before its official introduction to the car-buying public. The version of the Lumina that was introduced in the North American market was based on the GM W platform that was the same platform that was also used by other GM vehicles. Some of the more popular GM rides that made use of this platform were the Pontiac Grand Prix, the Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme, the Oldsmobile Intrigue, the Buick Regal and the Buick Century. The Lumina was an able performer on the road and at the same time a seller for Chevy and General Motors, but still GM reaped a number of criticisms when they introduced the Lumina model to the market. The press during its introduction criticized General Motors for being late in the introduction of a competitor that can compete with the aero-designed Ford Taurus. A high performance version of the Lumina was introduced and this was known as the Lumina Z-34. The vehicle carried the performance suspension and aside from the presence of that suspension, the vehicle was equipped as well with 3.4L DOHC and an LQ1 engine that was capable of producing 210 horsepower at 5200 rpm. The aesthetic side of the vehicle was also taken cared of with the presence of the factory spoiler and the use of body moldings, the louvered hood and the new steering wheel. The Chevy Lumina was a performer on the street and on the strip and its participation on the NASCAR was a testament to that. This is the reason as well why the car-buying public took the car seriously. Related Bookmarks
