Chevrolet K5 Blazer Headlights: Find Your Replacement K5 Blazer Headlight Assembly

Size doesn’t matter for the K-5 Blazer. Even though the construction and the design of the vehicle made it as the smallest full-size SUV in the General Motors line-up, the performance and the reliability of the vehicle cannot be denied. In fact the K-5 Blazer wasn’t just used by the civilians for on road and off-road adventures. Rather this SUV of General Motors was used by the military as well in the early 1980s. The design and the construction of the SUV has appealed to the military that a production of the militarized version of the vehicle was put in order between the years 1983 and 1986. The difference between the civilian and the militarized version was in the looks department, the addition of the leaf spring and the removal of the air conditioning unit for the militarized version.

The SUV was first introduced by General Motors for the Chevrolet line of vehicle in 1969 and it was in production up until 1995 until the Chevrolet Tahoe took over. The Blazer shared the same platform and construction with GMC’s Jimmy as both of the vehicles were based on the short wheelbase trucks and can be ordered as either a rear wheel drive or a four wheel drive. On its initial stage of production the K-5 Blazer and also the Jimmy featured the removable tops and the use of this design was used until 1976.It was during this time when the half-cab body style was introduced and later adopted. By the year 1983, yet a smaller version of the SUV was introduced in the market. This small SUV was named the S-10 Blazer.

The Blazer was available in four generations with the last one taking a bow in 1995, at least in terms of the name used. The original SUV of the first generation used the short wheelbase truck design and when the vehicle was made available in 1969 the vehicle as a four wheel drive. It was only in 1970 where a two wheel drive was offered in the market. Engine choices include the 250 for the straight 6, 292 for the straight 6, and a 307 for the V8 engine and another 350 for the next V8 engine. When the SUV was updated in 1992, the SUV used the GMT400 platform and the use of this platform was used until 1994.

The design and the construction of the vehicle though small have made the SUV a choice as well by civilians and the military. The decommissioned ones are used by law enforcement agencies and are sold through government auctions.
