The moment the going gets tough, and then it’s high time that enthusiasts rely on the tough rides that are available right now in the market. Now there are a number of these rides out there, and sometimes they may even share some general characteristics and designs. Not all heavy duty and hard working vehicles and SUVs and full-size trucks are created equal, but as mentioned they all have some general similarities. Cargo capacity is one aspect where these full-size vehicles and trucks share something. These types of vehicles allow for larger passenger capacity. Towing capacity is another and the truck-based SUVs are the ones that can offer better towing capabilities. And of course full-size SUVs and pick-ups are the types of vehicles that can be used for on the road and off road applications. There are many pick-ups and trucks that carry these impressions and characteristics and one of which is the K30. The K30 is part of the Chevy line of vehicles and more specifically a part of the C/K class of General Motors. The use of the C/K nomenclature for General Motors vehicles was a new practice in the 1960s though the carmaker have been producing pick-up trucks for the market since 1918. The C/K series to which the K30 belongs actually carried a revised version of the front end design of the previous trucks of 1960 and 1961. The K30 was actually a reference to the fact that the vehicle is the one ton version and this was the nomenclature that was used by General Motors when it first offered the first generation of the C/K series. Its introduction in the market in 1960 also created a first for the C/K class. This was also the time that a new body construction was developed and used. The most significant was the use of the drop-center ladder fame that allowed for the cab to sit lower and to allow the vehicle to look more like a truck. For the 1962 model year, the C/K series to which the K30 was part of used the torsion bar front suspension and used the trailing arm suspension as well for the rear. The engines used by the 1960 to 1966 C/K vehicles include the 3.9L that was capable of producing 135 horsepower, the 4.3L version and the 4.6L that can produce as much as 185 horsepower. Performance-wise the K30 just like any member of the C/K class can be relied upon when it comes to business and to pleasure. Related Bookmarks
