General Motors produced a number of trucks and pick-ups designed to address the needs of the working man and the person involved in many businesses. It is the choice of those people who are into cargo management and the choice of persons as well who have a large family to take care of. As a response General Motors designed and manufactured a number of able and highly reliable models and one of which is the C/K line and series of manufacturer. Forming part of the series are the Chevy 10 and 20 and the K1500 and the K2500 for the GMC models. These vehicles may have different names and labels but they all share some general construction and design since these are all part of the C/K series. The K2500 is one of the more popular members of the series. The 2500 model of the General Motors is simply the counterpart of the C20 of the Chevrolet and both these vehicles are three quarter ton vehicles. The K2500 was first introduced in 1960 and a first generation offering of the C/K class. The first versions of the K2500 made use of the small-block V8 engine at 350 cubic inch as its base engine. The car manufacturer didn’t stop there as it introduced as well the V8 400 cubic inch as an option. The continued development of the engine and of the vehicle led to the introduction of the big block V8 engine and that was available as well for the two wheel drive and the quarter ton models. And the quarter ton K2500 also featured the Turbo-Hydramatic 350. And to make the vehicle more helpful when it comes to cargo management and towing applications, the vehicle carried the gearing reduction and cooling additions. The upgrades and the improvements on the K2500 didn’t stop there. Subsequent issuances of the vehicle led to the development and the introduction of new engines that feature greater performance. For example the current version of the K2500 Base model has the standard 5.7L and a V8 engine that submitted 255 horsepower. Aside from the use of this standard engine, a number of options are available as well like the 7.4L 290 horsepower engine and the 6.5L 195 horsepower engine that is a V8. The LS version of the K2500 also comes with a standard engine and two more engine selections or options. For the most part of its life, the K2500 was relied upon when it comes to heavy-duty work. It still the work of the vehicle right now, and one reason why this is the choice of some even though fuel efficiency isn’t as good if compared with the other vehicles that are presented in the market alongside the K2500.
