The trucks under the GMC stable all has their own story to tell. For example; the K1500 Suburban is vehicle that is rich in history as well. The K1500 Suburban that was popular for many decades and generations is actually based from the commercial panel truck. The usual commercial panel truck of old featured the large and the window-less cargo area, but in the case of the Suburban the vehicle featured the large passenger compartment area. In short, the K1500 was a truck-based wagon and this vehicle has two doors and another three rows of seats that have the capability to host at least eight persons. The reliable performance of the ancestor of the K1500 was made possible by the inline six cylinders that produced 90 horsepower. The power may be small but this was significant power during that time. The truck received a number of tweaks and updates that started in 1941. The most important change for the ancestor of the truck happened in the 1960s and this was the years when the truck fully assumed the name K1500 Suburban. The year 1960 saw many first for the truck from GMC. The most important change that happened on the truck was the presence of the new body design of the truck. This upgrade was the drop-center ladder frame and the adoption of this new body style allowed for the vehicle to sit a little lower and the addition of the independent front suspension allowed for the vehicle to deliver car-like performance that is unlike all the other trucks out in the market. The designation of K1500 for the vehicle has a number of meanings. The K in the name of the vehicle indicated the fact that the vehicle is a four-wheel drive one. The 1962 version of the vehicle used the torsion bar front suspension and also featured the trailing arm suspension for the rear. Engines of the vehicle has the capacity to deliver 135 horsepower, the other engine submitted 150 horsepower and the last engine produced 185 horsepower. And for many years, the vehicle received a number of other modifications and changes thru the years. The latest K1500 that is available in the market has three trim levels as opposed to the base and the custom trims for the K1500 of the 1960s. The latest version of the K1500 in the market is available in three trims; the LS, the LT and the LTZ trim levels. The LS is more like the base trim and the LTZ on the other hand was the top-of-the line of the three and featured the four-wheel drive.
