More than just a member of the C/K class of Chevrolet, the K10 pick-up carried a number of firsts as well making a stand-out among the other member of the class. Actually the K10 pick-up was a first-generation of the C/K class, and as such one of the first vehicles that received the modifications and upgrades that people know now about the C/K class. There are a number of these modifications, performance and aesthetics touches as well. The K10 that people know now actually refers to other vehicles having the same structure and specifications. The difference lies in the labeling and the nomenclature used. For example the other member of the first generation of the C/K class was the K20 and the C-30. The K10 pick-up was seen first and introduced in the market on 1960 and the production of the pick-up ended in 1966. But the rest of the C/K line continued its production under new models and new generations up until the late 90s. Though most of the production of pick-ups and trucks were made during this time, this isn’t the first time that Chevrolet introduced its pick-up to the market. History checks revealed that the first Chevy truck was seen in 1924 but the in house designs did not appear in the market until 1930. As mentioned the K10 was recipient of many modifications, be that in terms of performance and style. First modification was the name-calling system that was adopted by the car maker. The K10 pick-up should mean that the vehicle is a short bed half ton. The first label that was used for a type of vehicle like this was the 3100. This label was scrapped in favor of the new name-calling. In terms of performance modifications, the K10 received a number of tweaks and updates that helped made the vehicle a performer on the road. The first tweak was the adoption of the torsion bar for the front suspension. This was partnered by the trailing arm suspension at the rear of the vehicle. Engine performance may vary as well, depending on the type of engine used on the vehicle. Performance may range from 135 horsepower for the 3.9L version of the pick-up to 185 horsepower for the 4.6L V8 engine. The pick-up’s performance when handling cargos and when tackling different road conditions are the things that helped make the pick-up stand-out for the pick-up buying public. The aesthetic tweaks that were made like the introduction of a new front grille design helped make the vehicle look good as well. Related Bookmarks
