GMC Jimmy Headlights: Find Your Replacement Jimmy Headlight Assembly
The GMC Jimmy was introduced in the market around the same time the K5 Blazer was introduced and marketed. Since these two vehicles share the same parent and are from a single automaker, then it will not come as a surprise that these two vehicles share some similarities. The Blazer was the smallest full-size SUV that was included in the C/K line of trucks of General Motors. The Jimmy on the other hand was General Motors own version of its truck and this truck made its debut in 1970. The Jimmy of GM lasted until 1992, the time the GMC Yukon was introduced. The Jimmy and the Blazer featured the same short wheelbase and these two vehicles are available either as rear wheel drive or can be ordered as a four wheel drive vehicle. The long wheelbase relative of these two vehicles is known as the Chevy Suburban. When these two vehicles were introduced in the market, these two vehicles featured removable tops and this was on for a few years. By 1976 the half cab body style of the vehicle was introduced and the removable tops soon faded out of the picture. These two vehicles stayed in production until 1991. A smaller version of the Jimmy was also marketed and this was the S-15 Jimmy. The S-15 jimmy that was introduced as well was based on the first generation Blazer and the Jimmy. The C-pillars and the lift glass panel are used on the new Jimmy and this was based on the first generation of the Jimmy. The smaller version of the Jimmy didn’t feature the usual removable hard tops that can be seen on the first generation of the Blazer and the Jimmy. This newer version of the Jimmy and the Blazer was offered in the two-door body style, and this was the same body style that was used on the earlier Jimmy and Blazer. The power of the smaller Jimmy was courtesy of General Motor’s 2 liter and the OHV four -cylinder that has the capacity to produce 83 horsepower. This power is small if compared to the production of the other engines of that time. Another engine was serviced and this was also the 2.8 L and this engine has the capacity to deliver 110 horsepower and this power plant was made as an option. The vehicle that was used and introduced in California featured a different power plant since the state has strict emission laws. In order to comply with the standards, the engine that was produced by Isuzu was used. This newer one was the 1.9 liter and the I4 and this was built by Isuzu. This engine was later dropped by the Jimmy and was replaced by the much powerful 2.5 L. The reliable V6 engine was refitted with the throttle-body fuel injection in 1986 so as to improve the performance and the fuel economy of the vehicle. The Jimmy was again made competitive and this vehicle received the 4.3 liter and the V6 option by the year 1988 and the power output was increased to 150 horsepower. These adjustments on the smaller-sized Jimmy made the vehicle more competitive in its segment. Related Bookmarks
