Infiniti is the division of Japanese carmaker Nissan Motors Company dedicated into making luxury cars. Like Nissan, it is based in Tokyo Japan servicing several countries in the world including Mexico, the Middle East, China, Taiwan, Russia and Ukraine by way of its 230 dealers in 15 countries. Its maiden offering the United States started in November 8, 1989. Currently, the largest volume of dealership is based in the US at its Coconut Creek, Florida site. They specialize in making coupes, sedans, crossovers and sports utility vehicles with a unique alphanumeric code to follow with every model and are based predominantly on the Nissan Fm platform or the Nissan F-Alpha platform.
Infiniti started in started its operations in the US mainland in 1989. It started as a means to sell Nissan’s models that do not fit their niche in the market in Asia. However, what seemed like an experiment turned into a very profitable business. In fact, their first campaign had a touch of Asia in with Zen-inspired surroundings. That proved to be an effective strategy because their car models sales have increasing grown. Its first car was the Q45, their flagship luxury car, which is powered by a V8 engine. This particular model lasted until 2006 because of incredible features and excellent performance. Alongside this model, the M30 – a two-door luxury coupe - was also released; however, due to weaker sales, this only lasted for some years. In 1991, they have released the G20 – an entry-level luxury car based on the Nissan Primera. The next car to be released came in 1997 when the company manufactured and made available to the market the QX4 making them the first company after Jeep and Land Rover to offer mid-sized luxury SUV. Nevertheless, despite the efforts, the company was still lagging in sales compared to its competitor. In fact, 2000 saw the almost complete fall of the company. In last-ditch efforts to save it, they have introduced some innovations during these years. In 2003, they released the G35 that was awarded Motor Trend Car of the Year. This propelled the company into greater sales heights. From then on, they have consistently increased their sales. In2007, they released their new flagship model, the M45. This is still based on the Q45 engine yet with slicker and modern design. A year after, the company decided to open its doors to the European market.
Probably the most popular models under the division of Infiniti are the Q45, G35 and M45. The Q45 is rear-wheel drive sedan that has been the flagship car of the company since its humble beginnings in 1989. This was eventually replaced by the M45, which is of the same mold but way better. The G35 is probably the most awarded of all Infiniti cars and it is the reason while the company still stands despite the plummeting sales at the start of 2000.
Their plans include producing the Infiniti FX, which will replace the current FX45. Another model slated to be released late 2009 as 2010 model is new M model. Finally, their flagship sedan that has been shelved in 2007 will have a new variation in 2009.
Infiniti still seeks to continue making what they do best – luxury cars - to pave the way to increasing and widening it market.Headlights by State: ______________________
