An entrant to the mid size luxury sport sedan car segment, the Lexus GS430 is manufactured by Japanese car company Toyota's luxury marque, Lexus. The Lexus GS430 is one of the top contenders in the mid size luxury sports sedan car segment.
Following the success of the Lexus GS400, Lexus released an upgraded version of the vehicle, increasing the engine displacement of the Lexus GS400 by 0.3 litres. This increase prompted a change of the marque from Lexus GS400 to Lexus GS430. The upgrade in engine displacement retained the hp output the Lexus GS400 but significantly increased the torque output of the car. The Lexus GS430 was firs released for the Lexus GS 2001 model. It was the last of the second generation of the Lexus GS car lineup. The Lexus GS430 continued to be released by Lexus up to the 2007 model year. By the 2008 model year, it was replaced with the Lexus GS460. By the third generation of the Lexus GS, the Lexus GS430, along with the Lexus GS350 went through a redesign which was in line with the new design philosophy being implemented by Lexus at the time, the L-finesse. This changed the overall look of the Lexus GS430, giving it a more swept back look with smooth lines that emphasized a more muscular look for the car. The profile of the Lexus GS430 also gained a more fastback look. In the market, the Lexus GS430 continued the trend of its predecessor, the Lexus GS400. Although not the dominant model in the luxury sport sedan car market, it was a viable contender nonetheless.
The Lexus GS430 featured a bigger engine than its predecessor. Under the hood of the Lexus GS430 was a 4.3 litre V8 engine which, although the hp output was still the same with the Lexus GS400, featured a more powerful torque output of 325 ft-lbf. The Lexus GS430 was also known for featuring some of the most advanced features in car technology during its time. The Lexus GS430 featured the SmartAccess keyless entry system which included a starter button on the car instead of the usual key starter. A hidden panel on the driver side was also available which was used to hide controls that do not see frequent use. The center console was a touchscreen display and the display system of the vehicle featured an electrochromic system which adjusted the display according reflected sunlight. On the road, the Lexus GS430 was once again among the fastest in its class. However, it did take a hit on fuel efficiency which is understandable and in line with its high performance. Handling and ride profiles were on par for a luxury vehicle. The Lexus GS430 ran on the road with a road hugging profile which could take twist and turns with little hint of body lean.
Not quite the class leader, the Lexus GS430 still presents a convincing argument. Its excellent blend of luxury and performance places it as one of the better choices for luxury sports sedan car buyers. Headlights by State: ______________________
