General Motors Corporation, also known as GMC, is a multinational corporation and is part of the automotive industry. General Motors has its headquarters in the Renaissance Center in Detroit, Michigan. Its Holden headquarters is in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia while its European headquarters is based in Zurich, Switzerland. The General Motors was founded in the year 1908 on the 16th of September in Flint, Michigan. General Motors was initially founded as a holding company for Buick, which was then controlled by William Durant. William Durant brought in the Cadillac, Oakland, Elmore and several others including the Reliance Motor Truck Company and the Rapid Motor Vehicle Company. William Durant lost control of General Motors in 1910 to a bankers trust because of the large amount of debt incurred. Alfred Sloan was chosen to take charge of the corporation.For over a hundred years now, General Motors has manufactured numerous pickup trucks, military vehicles, transit buses, vans, SUVs, lightduty trucks, mediumduty trucks, heavyduty trucks, fire trucks and ambulances.
