The Super Duty F-450 was the latest variant of the F-Series which debut for the 2008 model year. Previously, it was offered only as a commercial vehicle, which ultimately was given its own line in the F-Series lineup. The promotion was triggered by the growing demand of heavy duty towing. According to the research that Ford conducted, 90% of heavy duty truck owners’ towing needs are variable increasing, thus prompting Ford to add a new truck on its already existing and flourishing line of Super Duty trucks. This latest innovation combines the right axle, suspension, and powertrain to efficiently manage the extreme weight while maintaining a comfortable and refined ride. The all new Ford F-450 Super Duty comes with a standard Crew cab with a n 8ft long bed, Dual Rear Wheels, Limited Slip rear axle, Tow Command Trail Brake Controller, 10-lug 19.5” wheels and Trailer Tow Package. Ford also offers an optional “High Capacity Trailer Tow Package” for this package in order to increase Gross Combined Weight Rating from 26,000 lbs to a whopping 33,000 lbs. It is set on a different chassis than the other Super Duty models. The underpinnings are patterned from Ford’s chassis cab series in order to increase hauling capacity. Moreover, this heavy duty truck has three heavy duty engines available. It is equipped with the latest 350 hp 6.4 L V8 PowerStroke twin-turbo Diesel engine with an amazing 650 lb-ft of torque, 300 hp 5.4 L Triton V8, and a 362 hp 6.8 L V10 with 457 lb-ft of torque. For transmission, the F-450 uses a standard 6-speed manual or an optional 5-speed TorqShift automatic. This truck has a maximum payload of 6,120 lbs and a maximum towing capacity of 24,500 lbs. The F-450 trucks are available in regular cab, four-door SuperCab, and the four-door Crew Cab, much like the rest of the Super Duty pack. The SuperCab has two conventional front doors and two small rear-opening back doors, while the Crew Cab has four conventional front-hinged doors. However, compared to the lighter duty F-150, the Super Duty F-450 has a massive new grille, with bulkier features dominating its nose. Thus, suffice it to say, the F-450 reflects its strength in its hulk physique. And to be in line with the other Super Duty trucks, this features Ford’s tough luxury interior design. Standard features include power windows and locks, air conditioning, cruise control, dual front airbags, tilt steering wheel, and antilock brakes. The F-450 model is available in three trim levels: the base XL, the more luxurious XLT, and the more upscale Lariat. So if you are in the business of towing really heavy stuff such as horse trailers and farm trailers, or you simply enjoy going cross country towing a huge fully equipped home trailer with the facilities of a cozy pad, then this is the truck for you. Not only can it tow and haul really heavy trailers but the truck itself is luxury in its finest. There are no tiring bumpy rides for this truck, just smooth comfortable and fun drives.
