The Cadillac Escalade is the first serious contender of the Cadillac company in the SUV car markets. The Cadillac Escalade is a full sized luxury SUV which was first released in 1999. At initial release, the car made little impact on the market. However, further redesigns have slowly made the Cadillac Escalade a top seller in the full sized SUV market. The Cadillac Escalade also enjoys high popularity in many hit TV shows and movies.
When the SUV market began to boom in the late 1990s, Cadillac was left without a serious contender in the market. German and Japanese made SUVs were dominating the SUV market along with the popular Ford Lincoln Navigator SUV. As a result of this, the first generation of the Cadillac Escalade was a rushed vehicle which was based on the GMC Yukon Denali. The Cadillac Escalade is actually a largely based on the Yukon Denali, though it had been put through several design changes to change its look to be more in tune with the Cadillac brand. The result of the lack of proper design and development phase in the making of the first generation Cadillac Escalade was a lackluster market reception. The Cadillac Escalade went from a model 2000 directly to a 2002 model. This second generation Cadillac Escalade was more attuned to the Cadillac sense of prestige and was able to gain a better foothold in the SUV market. From 2002 to 2005, the Cadillac Escalade became one of the popular full sized luxury SUVs in the car markets. The third generation of the Cadillac Escalade was released in 2007. Development of this version of the Escalade was rushed as the Cadillac Escalade sales had, again begun to flag. The production of the Cadillac Escalade has seen a few rise and falls. However, the Escalade still has a large command of the SUV markets and it has gained quite a few followers. Notably, the Cadillac Escalade is popular with car tuners and celebrity car owners.
The first generation of the Cadillac Escalade had a 5.7 litre Vortec 5700 engine with 255 hp. It was based on the GMC Yukon Denali and the first generation Cadillac Escalade carries many visible cues marking it as such. The second generation of the Cadillac Escalade, the 2002 model, had a 5.3 litre V8 engine on the base models while a special configuration was available which had a Vortec V8 6.0 litre engine. This time around, the SUV was based on GMs GMT800 platform. The third generation Cadillac Escalade featured an all aluminum 6.2 litre Vortec V8 engine with an output of 403 hp. It was now based on the new GMT900 platform. Although, like any other car, the Cadillac Escalade did suffer its own share of problems once it got on the customer's hands, it has dodged any major controversies and has proved to be a technically sound car.
The Cadillac Escalade is an impressive full sized luxury SUV. Performance wise, the car is top notch. Luxury has always been the Cadillac brand name's number one selling point and, with the Cadillac Escalade, the Cadillac brand name redeems itself. This car is definitely a good model to buy. It can be a bit pricey but the price tag is worth it.Headlights by State: ______________________
