The car sales are always showing the mid-size SUVs on top of other vehicle types. The top sales of this type of car are due to its maneuverability and the offered space that are perfect for sole or family rides. These top selling mid-size SUVs include the GMC Envoy that is one of the promising vehicles for use in street and all-terrain driving. This SUV that usually seats a total of five people and with enough space for all their baggage is ideal for short family trips. Its decent power and smooth run can bring it on top of its SUV rivals.
The GMC Envoy was first launched in 1998 and was in sale from 1998 to 2000. After its rest in 2001, this model was then improved and redesigned in 2002 with its added power, refinement, and size. This GMC model is available in rear wheel drive or 2WD and 4X4 or 4WD like its platform twin, the Chevy Trailblazer. The Trailblazer and the Envoy share the same platform and other features. They just differ in styles and in the Envoy’s rear optional air suspension that is not available in Trailblazer. This type of suspension balances heavy loads and gives a more isolated ride. The flaws of the original Envoy include its low-standard interior materials and designs such as light cushioning and upholstery. Envoy drivers also complain with the car’s numb steering, poor brake feel, and uncomfortable ride and control especially at top speeds. These are the main concerns that were addressed in the redevelopment of the GMC Envoy. The current model of the Envoy is a five-seater model that made its debut in 2002. The seven-seater 2006 model, the Envoy XL was only a limited edition that stopped its sale in 2007.
The modern Envoy is still available in 2WD and 4WD options in three trims, the SLE, SLT, and the Denali. These make a total of six model designs out of the combination of the trim levels and drive setups. All the Envoy models offer rear entertainment system and side curtain airbags for pleasure and safety of the passengers. The SLE models are complete with dual-zone air-conditioning unit, CD stereo, stability control, full power accessories, 17” alloy wheels, and the trailer hitch. The Denali and SLT models are equipped with Bose audio system and leather upholstery. The top-line Denali is available with improved leather upholstery, laminated glass, and sound insulation that ensure a quiet ride. The Denali uses a 300-hp 5.3-liter V8 engine that gives an extra torque and uses a cylinder-deactivation feature giving the V8 similar highway mileage to the other Envoy engine option. The other option is the 291-hp 4.2-liter inline-6 for the SLT and SLE models. The GMC Envoy can hold a total of 80 cubic feet cargo with enough space for four or five passengers. The light cushioning of the seats adds space to the interior of the GMC Envoy but cuts the comfort on the side of the sitting passengers. Special editions of XL such as the Envoy XUV served as a pickup and an SUV with its retractable roof for the cargo area and the absence of the 3rd row seat.
The GMC Envoy is all about space and looks. With its sporty features both in two-wheel drive and four-wheel drives, the Envoy is a true blue sports utility vehicle. With its price ranging from $8,727 to $34,986 for the current Envoy, the owner can have the space and the comfort of an SUV.
