The Cadillac Eldorado is an iconic car that is considered as the American luxury car with the longest production run which began in 1953 and ended in 2002. The Cadillac Eldorado cars were among the high end luxury vehicles offered by Cadillac. Over the years, the Cadillac Eldorado has undergone several changes in body style and mechanics. However, it has always remained as one of the most easily recognizable car models over the years and has been one of the best selling cars of Cadillac, only losing its selling power nearing its retirement in 2002. The first ever Cadillac Eldorado was released in 1953. The car was a low production convertible with only 532 units sold. It had a special body with wraparound windshields and a cut-down beltline which signified a dip in the sheet metal located at the bottom of the side windows. It was available in four colors which were Alpine White, Artisan Ochre, Azure Blue and Azter Red. There were also convertible models of the Cadillac Eldorado. Upon release, the car was an instant hit and gained the Cadillac a large number of followers. Over the years, the Cadillac Eldorado remained consistently as one of the best sellers of the Cadillac line of cars. The Cadillac Eldorado reached its peak with its 1979 to 1985 models. While these models suffered several major drawbacks, they still sold quite well even for their relatively high prices at the time. The 1986 to 1991 models of the Cadillac Eldorado were redesigned to fit with what was an eroneous expectation of increased gasoline prices and an increase in demand for smaller luxury cars. This was a disastrous decision and led to the slow down of the sales of the Cadillac Eldorado. Loyal followers of the car were dismayed to see an extremely downsized Eldorado with sedan framed windows instead of the signature frameless, hardtop-styled windows. The 1992 to 2002 model of the Cadillac Eldorado was more fitting of the Eldorado heritage. Sales increased but the Cadillac Eldorado never really recovered and it was finally discontinued in 2002. Technically, the Cadillac Eldorado was usually the leader of the pack. This is especially true design-wise. As a luxury vehicle, the Cadillac Eldorado had the advantage of being fitted with some of the most powerful engines of the eras that it was produced in. Almost all Cadillac Eldorado vehicles carried large engines with impressive hp outputs. A large number of them were fitted with V8 engines as well. The Cadillac Eldorado did experience several mechanical problems during its run. This is most especially true with the 1979 to 1985 models of the car. However, the car had always been able to come back and fans of the car had always supported it until its unfortunate downsizing in the succeeding years which ultimately led to the demise of the car. The older Cadillac Eldorado cars are collector vehicles. They are highly prized and are very difficult to find in the market. Owners of classic Cadillac Eldorados keep their vehicles in mint condition. Through the years, the car has maintained a high market resale value. Finding a classic Cadillac Eldorado for sale is difficult however and those that are being sold will carry hefty price tags. Headlights by State: ______________________
