The Hyundai Elantra is the compact car entry of the Hyundai car company. The car was originally launched in 1991 and has been in the compact car market ever since. At the start of its production run, the Hyundai Elantra was a market failure due to being a very low quality car. Since then, however, the Hyundai Elantra has slowly become one of the top competitors in the compact car market mainly by increasing the quality of their car.
The Hyundai Elantra first saw the light of day in 1991. The car was a relatively low seller at the time. Quality issues with the first generation Hyundai Elantra were numerous and most car buyers opted for the better import cars coming from Toyota and Honda. Over the years, Hyundai has done its level best to improve its car line up. This is most obvious in the Hyundai Elantra. After several major redesigns, the latest Hyundai Elantra is becoming one of the top competitors for the top spot in the compact car market. Many car enthusiasts are seeing vast changes in the character of the Hyundai Elantra. While formerly known as the car a buyer would go to because it is the cheapest, now the Hyundai Elantra gets customers because it is the cheapest AND it is a better choice. The latest Hyundai Elantra is getting good marks for its spaciousness in both its interior and its trunk. The interior of the car is also decently appointed. The car also has power to put on the pavement and is quite fuel efficient as well. There are still some kinks to work out with the car, however. The most notable of which would be the bland styling of the Hyundai Elantra which seems to be taking cues from every one of its competitors. The features of the car are also quite spartan. For the basic Hyundai Elantra, the car owner gets a CD playing radio and not much else. In the world of the Bluetooth, the iPod and the GPS, Elantra needs to work on its add-ons. Yet, even with these x marks against the Elantra, the compact car market leaders are sure to be getting nervous about the Elantra. The car is getting high marks and excellent reviews. To note, Consumer Reports just gave the Elantra high marks against its competitors.
The new Hyundai Elantra is offered with the 2 litre DOHC I4 engine with CVVT. The standard transmission is a 5 speed manual transmission. An automatic 4 speed transmission is optional. The car is front wheel driven and features independent suspension on all four wheels with the front suspension using McPherson struts and the rear using multi-link suspension with gas shocks. The interior of the Hyundai Elantra offers the largest room compared to its competitors. Base accessories for the Hyundai Elantra include air conditioning, anti theft system, cruise control, 172 watt audio system with AM/FM/XM/CD/MP3 capabilities and an auxiliary input jack, in glass antenna and some leather trims.
For compact car buyers, the Hyundai Elantra is an excellent choice. The car has the lowest price of its class, one of the best warranty deals and is quite competitive in terms of performance and design. The low points of the car are its bland styling, lack of accessories and the general low resale value of Hyundai cars. Headlights by State: ______________________
