The Lexus ES300 is a mid size luxury car made by Lexus under the Lexus ES line. The car is the successor of the Lexus ES250 and was first introduced in 1991.
After a short, 2 year run, Lexus replaced the ES250 with the Lexus ES300. Perhaps the major failing of the ES250 was that it resembled too much the Toyota Camry which led people to think that The Lexus ES250 was a rebadged version of the Toyota Camry. With the Lexus ES300, Lexus redesigned the car and based it on the Toyota Windom. The renaming from ES250 to ES300 was due to the increase in engine displacement from 2.5 litres to 3.0 litres. The Lexus ES300 featured a significantly different design from the Lexus ES250. It had more curves than the Lexus ES250 and was significantly longer and wider as well. The Lexus ES300 proved to be a very successful car model for Lexus, logging a surprisingly high sales figure for its introduction year. During the following years, the Lexus ES300 was able to continue the trend as well. The Lexus ES300 marque was used for car models of the Lexus ES lineup from 1992 up to 2003. This encompassed the second generation, third generation and some of the fourth generation of the Lexus ES car lineup. Over the years of its production, the Lexus ES300 featured increasingly more luxurious features, went through a number of redesigns and its wheelbase continued to increase. The price tag consequently went up as well but the Lexus ES300 still proved to be a market success in spite of this.
The Lexus ES300 featured a different set of mechanical components from the Lexus ES250. The engine displacement was increased from 2.5 litres displacement to 3.0 litres. The first generation Lexus ES300 carried a 3.0 litre V6 engine which had an output of 185 hp. Lexus advertised the 0 to 60 rating of the ES300 to be 8.0 seconds. The Lexus ES300 first generation was available with either a 5 speed manual or a 4 speed automatic transmission. The last version of the Lexus ES300 was the 2003 model. The engine was still a 3.0 litre V6 engine. Its weight had increased and it carried more features as well but this did not affect the performance of the car. On the road, the Lexus ES300 was a solid performer. The V6 engine gave quick acceleration and had enough power for passing on the fast lane. The suspension for the car was also one of the most comfortable in its class. Handling was also responsive and the car handle corners quite well.
The Lexus ES300 is not the car for excitement on the road. It is, rather a poised and mature car that delivered luxury features and luxury driving comfort in a very refined, durable and reliable package. The Lexus ES300 is definitely among the top mid size luxury cars ever released in the North American car market. Headlights by State: ______________________
