Mercedes E550 Headlights: Find Your Replacement E550 Headlight Assembly

German auto giant Mercedes-Benz has held a perpetual, if not strong, reputation of being able to consistently deliver quality and durability in its products; especially in their E-Class series. And the automakers' latest addition, the Mercedes-Benz E550, crosses all T's and dots I's in “safety, strength, and image” with its first-rate engine and impressive detail upgrades.

The E550 comes from the Mercedes-Benz range of executive-size vehicles known as the “E-Class.” Released in 2007, this four-door sedan was built with the W211 chassis, as an answer to previous consumer complaints pertaining to its predecessor's shortage of luxury and power in the overall package. The E550 comes in two trims, the Sport and the Luxury. The two versions are differentiable in terms of its external appearances. The difference, though, lies only in minor details such as the Luxury running with 17” alloy tires and the Sport version rolling with an inch more in wheels.

And as with most, if not all, of Mercedes-Benz' cars, the E550's price tag is built for those who can afford a $50-$60k ride. Yes, the price might be enough to send the middle-class Joes and Janes running the other way, but as some automobile connoisseurs have discovered after a drive or two, the E550 is well-worth its half-a-grand price tag.

The reason of which begins where most car buyers think it all counts: the engine. The E550's own 5.5L V8 powerhouse pumps up some 382 hp, assuring the driver a velocity experience of a lifetime. If the open road is not the daily path you take, the E550 still delivers as its poise and control in handling makes the car perfectly flexible in city traffic as well. Also impressive is the E550's “Shift Into Optimum Gear” system, which allows the driver to choose among the vehicle's seven gears to obtain maximum acceleration. The E550 likewise possesses an adaptive programming, which controls shifts to suit to a personal driving style. The V8 engine might cause some worries because of its gas-gulping reputation, but the E550 did perform quite well in the fuel efficiency department (for a V8) with an average of 20.7 mpg in experimental freeway driving. The E550's emission performance, though, is the lowest in its class as it coughs out some 10.1 tonnes of exhaust per year, and 0.4 point higher when in automatic.

If looks are of the essence, the E550 is sure to steal the hearts of car buyers with the vehicle's classy appearance, inside and out. After a much-needed face-lift, the new E-Class addition is afforded with a new bumper and grille in the forefront, giving the car a frontage that is reminiscent of a Cadillac. The back end hoists a new row of taillights with a clearer center section that holds side flashers and backup lights. An extra feature is also the vehicle's new sunroof (or sunroofs), which are installed in the front and rear seats. There is also a set of automatic cloth blinds that are used to block the sun out from the front and rear panes.

Inside, the space is generous enough to make vertically-gifted individuals sit through the ride with comfort and ease. Design-wise, the E550 is a mix of the old and new based on the model's retention of its predecessor's styling and on the integration of new technology into the car's cabin. The new version comes equipped with a steering wheel with soft-touch buttons that controls a bevy of applications such as: the car's audio settings, telecommunications settings (via Bluetooth), and driving information via a multi-function display at the center of the speedometer. The E550 also has a “Keyless Go” button, which enables drivers to start the engine by just a push of a button that is mounted on top of the shifter. Also available in the E550 is a Logic 7 surround sound stereo system along with a 6-disc change player. An IPod dock is also available upon request and an additional $321. The E550 likewise comes with a standard computerized navigation system, which can be accessed through a navigation display embedded at the center of the dashboard. A common complaint for this equipment, though, is the washed-out resolution of the screen and its too-love positioning that makes viewing quite a feat.

The Mercedes-Benz is not the perfect car with its minor hitches in design and in-cabin technology. However, for luxury, motor power, and practical technology at the price of some $50 - $60 grand, the E550 is a reasonably great buy, especially when pitted against its competition under the same price range.
