Dodge is a known maker of automobiles, sports utility vehicles, and trucks that is based in the United States. Currently, it services more than sixty countries and territories around the world. The Dodge Brothers, thus the name, founded it in 1900 as a supplier of parts and assemblies to cater to the growing car industry in the Detroit area. It officially joined the bandwagon of manufacturing cars in 1914. By 1928, it was bought by Chrysler as a separate brand making it undergo the same changes as Chrysler does. It was part of the merger in Daimler and Chrysler in 1998. However, it is now a popular brand of Chrysler LLC now being run by Cerberus Capital Management after its acquisition of Chrysler in 2007.
The brothers Horace and John Dodge started as precision engine and chassis workers supplying part and services to Detroit City’s up and coming automobile industry. However, having envisioned making cars of their own, decided to make their first car – the new four-cylinder Dodge Model 30 – in 1914. Two years after, Dodge has become the second largest car selling company in the whole of United States. That same year, a testament of their car’s durability was featured by the US Army's Pancho Villa Expedition into Mexico adding more acclaim to the new company. The company maintained its popularity and niche in the market until the 1920. That same year, both of the brothers died out of sickness. Despite that, the company continuously faired well in the market and even emerged as a leading builder of light trucks. However, due to stagnation in development, the sales have plummeted in 1925 forcing the dodge widows to sell the company to Dillon, Read and Co. Despite the efforts of the new management, still the company was on a downswing. July of 1928, Dodge was finally sold to Walter Chrysler. Dodge became a popular brand under the wings of the Chrysler Corporation. The brand became extremely popular during the World War II especially to average populace as well as the soldiers because it was a prolific war material. 1953 saw significant changes in the Dodge design. In 1961, the first compact car was introduced with the new Lancer sedan. In 1969, they have introduced the fuselage styling, which was toned down years later. The 1973 oil crisis was almost the demise of all old models of the company. However, they were able to counter it by acquiring the Omni subcompact that was well received in the market. This has been the start of rigorous changes in the company including a short-lived merger with Daimler in 1998; and in 2007, they are under the new management of Cerberus Capital.
Among the famed Dodge models thru the years, include the Viper, the Durango, and the Daytona. The Daytona is a front-wheel drive hatchback. The Durango is the company’s very own full-sized SUV that was redesigned in 2004. Meanwhile, the Viper is a unique V10-powered sports car.
Dodge continues to make interesting and exciting developments for its future models. In fact, they claimed that, upon purchase of a Dodge vehicle, it is guaranteed that the buyer will only have to pay close to three dollars per gallon in gas costs for the next 3 years.
Everybody is enjoined to anticipate more and more car models from Dodge in the future. Thanks to the continued patronage of the consumers as well as the dedication of the company into providing the buying public only the best.Headlights by State: ______________________
