Dodge Dakota Headlights: Find Your Replacement Dakota Headlight Assembly
The name Dakota that was adopted by Dodge for its mid-size entry truck is actually based on a Sioux Indian language which means a friend or an ally. And the truck-buying public has learned that indeed the Dodge Dakota is that and more. As a testament to the trucks performance and reliability on and off the road, the Dakota was cited as one of the nominees or the North American Truck of the Year Award in 2000. It was the year 1987 when the first version of the Dakota was seen by the truck-buying public. This Dodge vehicle was available in two generations and the first generation was in production from 1987 until 1996. And the second generation of the vehicle was presented to the market from 1997 to 2004. In between these two years, a number of performance and design modifications were made on the vehicle. The first generation of the vehicle features a straight-4 engine V6 engine and this engine was offered together with either the 5 speed manual or the 4-speed automatic transmission. Though the fuel injection system was introduced for the 1988 version of the vehicle, the introduction of this fuel management didn’t make a dent on the performance of the Dakota. The year 1988 saw the introduction of the Sport package of the Dakota and this mid-year release featured a number of amenities which include the deluxe wipers, the floor carpet and a number of interior and exterior appointments. Another first was made in 1989 and this was the year where the Dakota convertible was introduced in the market. The extended Club Cab made its appearance as well in 1990 and this was seen as a convenience for drivers with large families. The large Club Cab may have two doors but the seating capacity has been increased to six passengers. The drawback on this was the fact that only children can be accommodated at the back of the pick-up. The second generation of the Dakota was made available from 1997 until 2004. The exterior look of the second generation Dakota may have been different compared to the first generation Dakota, but the inside and its construction remains the same. It’s still the same Dakota but using now the semi-truck appearance of the Ram. The improvements on the Dakota didn’t end there since a number of modifications have been made starting 1997 that helped made Dodge Dakota an institution in its class.
