Dodge relentlessly seeks improvements and continuously launches models that will fit in a specific target market in the industry. This and just the right type of marketing make it successful in its field. This is seen in its different classes of vehicle that includes cars, vans, sports utility vehicles (SUV) and of course, the pickup trucks. One great addition to its line is the Dodge D200 that is the second generation in the successful D series of the Dodge division of Chrysler. It has the intention of giving the pickup line a better appearance and performance as well for the fleet and off-road enthusiasts. Dodge D200 is among the lineup of powerful and muscled pickup trucks inn the 60s. It has the grandeur of the Swept-Line fender to bed design that was prevalent in the earlier D series. Its triumphant Dodge logo is embedded on the front most of the hood, right above where the line style sweeps the end of the hood. The D200 was a very favorable passenger, business, off-road, and towing machine. At most, it is used in fleet operations for hauling and towing purposes by simple modifications and additions on its tail or bed. It also has wider wheel wells for later tire replacements or even upgrading purposes. Just like its predecessors, the Dodge D200 sports slant Chrysler 6 engines but this time in many choices. You can have a choice from 170 CID Slant 6 I6, 225 CID Slant 6, I6, 318 A V8, 273 CID LA V8, and topping it with 383 CID RB V8 that can produce as much as 258 hp or 192 kW with 375 ft-lbf or 508 Nm gross power. And pretty much like with the rest in the D series it is also equipped with 3-speed dash mounted transmission, but with an option of column mounted lever shifted automatic. The major replacements in the D series became very prevalent in 1965 when it received wider tailgate and LA series engines from the A series. It also received the big block 383 2-barrel engines in 1967, making it just what Dodge intends for further sophistication and higher performance. Out of that, the already good reviews that the D series had been receiving in the industry was sustained and continued to make a good additional portion in the market of its class. For that, Dodge was right in creating generations to generations’ pickup truck trims and directed to further enhance it. Related Bookmarks
