The Toyota Cressida was the luxury car model of toyota in the 1970s up to the early 1990s. Following the footsteps of its other Toyota siblings, the Toyota Cressida was released to a highly expectant market and gained market success in the luxury car line for Toyota.
As the luxury car entrant of Toyota, the Toyota Cressida hit the right note in the car markets both in North America and in international markets. The Toyota Cressida enjoyed market success throughout its market run. The car was first introduced in 1973 in its home market of Japan. In 1977, the second generation of the Toyota Cressida was imported into the United States car markets from Japan. It replaced the Toyota Corona Mark II. The car was retired after a 20 year run, in 1993. It had already been discontinued in the North American car market by 1992. Derivatives of the Toyota Cressida did continue production in the Japan car market past the year 2000. The Toyota Cressida is famously known as the four door Supra as it features the same engine as the more sporty Toyota Supra as well as the rear-drive layout. In fact, during the years that the Toyota Cressida was available in the North American car market, the Toyota Supra and the Toyota Cressida functioned as the flagship cars of the North American Toyota car lineup.
Although designed to be a formal, functional vehicle, the Toyota Cressida was surprisingly powerful and aggressive on the road. This is because of the availability of more powerful engines for the Toyota Cressida. Engines such as the I6 G-series, the I6 M-Series, I4 R-series gasoline engines and the I4 L-series diesel engine were available for many models of the Toyota Cressida. These generally powerful engines gave the Toyota Cressida a lot of power on the road. The Toyota Cressida was also a rear wheel drive format vehicle which translated to a more powerful and balanced ride. As a luxury vehicle, Toyota Cresida car models also featured several necessary safety features as well as luxury features. The Toyota Cressida is known for its nimble and quick road performance owing to its powerful engine. It also road quite well and could take all but the most serious of road hazards. Handling and cornering was also pretty solid due to the good balance of the car.
A Toyota Cressida in good condition is an excellent buy. However, they are old car models and newer models with more recent features are available at prices comparable to old Toyota Cressida prices as well. Headlights by State: ______________________
