Chevrolet Corvair Headlights: Find Your Replacement Corvair Headlight Assembly

When people then talk about the new segment- the compact class, most of people in the know will often refer to just a few vehicles. And some of the vehicles that will usually pop into their minds include the Falcon, the Studebaker Lark, the Rambler and the Valiant. But the list doesn’t end there; one more popular member of the emerging class back then was the Chevrolet Corvair. The introduction of these vehicles and of the Corvair of course was in a response to the growing popularity of the small and the more fuel-friendly vehicles that came from Europe that was led by Volkswagen.

Corvair is a small yet sporty offering of General Motors was first seen by the public in 1960 and the production lasted until 1969. The popularity of the vehicle was due to the size of the vehicle, and of course due to its reliable performance. The Corvair of the 60s was offered in varying body styles. Some of the more common styles of this compact vehicle include a four-door sedan and a hard top. There are Corvairs as well that have two doors, available in a convertible and was available as well as a station wagon. Though the vehicle may share some of the traits of those included in the new sporty compact class, this vehicle from General Motors has some distinctive difference. The difference lies in the body construction of the vehicle. The Corvair is part of the so-called A-Body line-up of GM and another difference lie in the position of the car’s engine.

Somehow inspired by Cole's interest in airplanes though can be related tot the VW Beetle – Corvair must have had around a 140-cid air-cooled flat six developing 80 or 95 horsepower in initial form. This is rarely seen in vehicles. The engine is complicated as six separate cylinder barrels and a divided crankcase comprise the under-hood beast. With the lightweight aluminum block, the car still weighs 366 pounds. Yet some are 78 pounds above the target weight, which leads to a miscalculation and negative consequences for handling. When speaking about the setbacks, the costly radical design is a big no-no to the economy-car mission. On the other hand, Corvair seems to be so "foreign" for the target audience.

But what makes the Corvair truly interesting to some was the fact that the vehicle can be modified. The popularity of the vehicle resided mostly in the hearts and the minds of the racing and the sports car enthusiasts out there. The vehicle was thought to be much better than the Mustang though Mustang had a clearer power advantage. For the person who desires performance and who wants to have the car to be modified, then the Chevrolet Corvair simply fits the bill.
