The Lincoln Continental has had a long and distinguished presence in the United States car market and has been one of the best selling luxury cars in the American car market. The Lincoln Continental was largely replaced by the Lincoln Town Car which is the full sized luxury car of Lincoln and the Lincoln LS which is the mid sized luxury car of Lincoln. The Lincoln Continental regularly benefited from the mechanical and aesthetic work from Lincoln. This is why the Lincoln Continental has maintained such a distinguished place in the history of American automobiles. The last of the Lincoln Continental line of vehicles was the 2002 car model Lincoln Continental. The 2002 Lincoln Continental was available in front engine front wheel format. the engine available for the 2002 Lincoln Continental 4.6 litre V8 engine with a power output of 275 hp. The transmission was a 4 speed automatic. Base features of the 2002 Lincoln Continental included traction control, front side airbags, 4 wheel disc brakes with antilock features and rear load leveling suspensions. Optional features include run flat tires with pressure monitors, voice activated hands free phone and driver selectable steering and suspensions systems. The optional features available for the 2002 Lincoln Continental depended on the trim model chosen. The trims available for the 2002 Lincoln Continental included the Base model, the Driver Select, the Personal Security and the Luxury Appearance trim models. The Lincoln Continental was a solid performing car which featured a number of high tech features and luxurious accessories. Its discontinuation was due to no fault of the car but was rather due to the fact that the Lincoln Continental was superseded by other Lincoln models with better features.
