In 2004, the world-renowned manufacturer of top-rate luxury cars, Mercedes Benz, introduced the CLS-Class series. This lineup of executive-sized sedan is based on the W211 E-class variant of the Mercedes-Benz range. The forerunner of the CLS lineup was based on the W211 E-Class chassis, only the CLS model was 6 in longer than the E-Class variant. It was initially introduced in Europe as the Mercedes-Benz C219 in 2003, although it was in 2004 that the CLS-Class was first introduced in America. Eventually, the CLS models were modified into an AMG variant. Of course, just by seeing the three bold letters screaming “supercar” will already give you an idea how upscale this modified variant is. To elaborate, AMG is the leading engine tuning company that forges super powered engines as well as astounding mechanical upgrades. In 2004, the first AMG modified CLS was introduced in Europe as the CLS55 AMG. Equipped with a hand-built 5.4 L supercharged V8, the CLS55 cranked a whopping 469 hp and 516 ft-lb of torque. The transmission used is a 5-speed AMG SpeedShift automatic. This specialized transmission can be used either through a gearshift button mounted on the steering wheel or by using a conventional lever. The power is then transmitted to a pair of 19 in rear wheels with 285/30. Moreover, it the CLS55 is equipped with an AMG developed braking system with the ability to stop the wheels with same urgency with its acceleration. Interior-wise, you can never be disappointed with the CLS55 spacious interior. Moreover, the cabin is lavished with opulent trims such as chrome-capped door rails and a sleek walnut dashboard. It has leather upholstered power seats that are simply soothing, thus providing remarkable comfort during long drives. The latest standard safety features include seatbelts and airbags that have the ability to sense and react to unfortunate driving conditions. An optional Pre-Safe system can predict an imminent collision. When the system responds to a threatening impact, the sunroof closes, the seatbelts tighten, while the passenger adjusts to a crash positioning. Other standard features includes outside temperature gauge, auto-dimming rear-view mirrors, rain-sensing wipers, projector-beam headlights, eight airbags, four-zone Thermotronic climate controls, and an electronically controlled head rest system called Neck-Pro. And aside from its plush standard features, the CLS55 has top of the line optional features such as drive authorization system, self cleaning bi-xenon lights, AMG package performance package to further rev up your ride, a premium package, GPS navigation, Parktronic parking sensors, Keylesss Go, Distronic radar-guided cruise control, and the list just goes on. Taking a ride on the CLS55 is like gliding through meandering with huge wheels powered by airmatic suspension, you would barely feel the humps and the slopes of the highway for it would more likely feel like you are flawlessly flying. Simply put, Mercedes-Benz has a list of remarkable vehicles that one could simply not ignore.
