High performance delivered by the Chevy Beretta
The Beretta is a front wheel drive coupe’ was designed in the Chevrolet Exterior Studio 3. This was the same studio where the Camaro and the Corvette was designed. The name Beretta that was used by Chevrolet was the subject of a suit that was filed by Fabbrica d’Armi Pietro Beretta. The suit that was filed by Beretta was for copyright infringement for the use of the name Beretta. The suit that was filed was arranged off the court in 1989. And as part of the settlement, the two exchanged symbolic gifts and these gifts are the Beretta GTU coupe and two Beretta shotguns. Aside from these gifts, General Motors also made a donation amounting to $500,000 to a Beretta-sponsored charity that is also linked with the GM Cancer Research Foundation.
This Chevy coupe was first introduced in 1987 and lasted until 1996. And the Beretta GTU, the same GTU that was gifted to Fabbrica d’Armi Beretta was available in the market in 1988 and 1989. The high performance version of the Beretta was made available in the market, and this was the GTZ Beretta. The year 1994 was a significant year for the Beretta as well since this was the year when the GT and the GTZ was replaced by Beretta Z26. The GTU was a special Beretta model offered from 1988-89. Each was made by having a fully loaded Beretta GT (containing Z51 suspension package) and shipping it to Concepts and Cars. These were equipped with 16x7" aluminum alloy wheels, rear spoiler, custom trim, custom ground effects, mirrors, and decals.
Three versions of the Beretta were produced and these were the Base/CL, the Beretta GT and the higher end models of the Beretta that include the GTU, the Indy, the GTZ and the much newer Z26. A convertible of the Beretta were also produced and this convertible was used as the pace car for the Indianapolis 500 that was held in 1990. The GTU version of the Beretta made use of the Beretta GT that comes with the Z51 suspension package and then a number of advanced and highly stylish exterior accessories are used. Some of the more popular accessories are the 16x7” aluminum alloy wheels and custom ground effects are used as well. Other stylish exterior accessories that were added include the rear spoiler, mirrors, trims and decals. The GTZ version of the Beretta came with the Oldsmobile’s 2.3 liter high output Quad 4 engine and this engine can deliver 180 horsepower. The 3.1 liter V6 version of the engine was made available for the GTZ but the only drawback was that this came only with the three-speed automatic transmission.
Other significant changes were made on the engine and the performance of the Beretta, and some of these changes were seen during 1991. The engine wasn’t the only thing that was changed; rather a number of interior updates on the Beretta were made. The Beretta both combines style and performance and this vehicle in effect will appeal to those to seek aesthetically good-looking vehicle and a high performing vehicle as well.
