If you are into vintage cars, Chevrolet Bel Air is among the best choices. Either station wagon or convertible type it is, this Chevy model remains trendy with its long front fascia. It has an aggressive, classy style that is loved by most car enthusiasts. The Chevrolet Bel Air is an automobile series produced by the Chevrolet/ General Motors from 1953–75. From 1950– 1952, hardtops in Chevy’s premium Deluxe model range were assigned with the Bel Air name though it was not a distinct series of its own. Bel Air production continued in Canada through the 1981 model year. In 1953 the series was renamed, wherein the Bel Air name was applied to the premium model range. From then, two lower series also emerged: the 150 and 210. The 1953 Chevrolet was known as "Entirely New Through and Through," because of the restyled body panels especially the front and rear ends. Such Chevys had the same frame and mechanicals as the 1949-52 cars. The Bel Air series were designed with wide chrome strip of molding starting from the rear fender bulge down to the rear bumper. The inside of the stripe was painted with a color that coordinates with the outside body color. Bel Air interiors for 1953 had a significant change out of the chrome across the lower part of the dashboard and steering wheel. In 1954, the Bel Air hadn’t almost changed except for the revised grille and taillights. In the recent years, a concept Bel Air convertible was shown at the North American International Auto Show. It was in 2002 when many styling and design cues from the legendary 1955–57 models were shown off. The tail lights are very similar to the Ford Thunderbird. Chevrolet Bel Airs became prominent in several films. These include Dr. No (1962), Two-Lane Blacktop (1971), American Graffiti (1973), Thunder and Lightning (1977), "Olsen_Banden" (The Olsen Gang, 1968-1998) film series, and “A Perfect World” (1993). Bel Air has also got popular in the music industry as one alternative-country group Old 97's included a song entitled "Bel Air" in their album, Wreck Your Life. For Chevrolet Bel air, there are two engine choices, which depend on the transmission ordered. Both alternatives are "Blue Flame" inline six cylinder OHV engines, which feature aluminum pistons and hydraulic valve lifters. The 115 hp (86 kW) engine was made standard on stick shift models, in line with the solid lifters and splash-plus pressure lubrication. Powerglide rides had the 125 hp (93 kW) version which had hydraulic lifters and full pressure lubrication. ’55 Chevrolets gained a V8 engine option. Such feature under the hood is among the best benefits preserved in production for many decades. The base V8 contain two-barrel carburetor and rated at 162 horsepower (121 kW). With the great historical accounts and ideal interior and exterior features throughout the decades, Chevrolet Bel Air should be among the best vintage units today.
