The Mazda B3000 is the designation for several pickup truck models in the Mazda B-Series line of pickup trucks. The Mazda B-Series pickup trucks have been traditionally good sellers for Mazda. However, in recent years, the sales of Mazda Trucks, the new naming convention of the Mazda B-Series have been low and the Mazda B-Series has been designated for discontinuation in 2008. By convention, Mazda B-Series pickup trucks reflect the displacement of their engines in their names. For the Mazda B3000, the '3000' indicates the 3.0 litre engine used by the truck. The first time that the Mazda B3000 name was used was for the Mark 4 3.0 litre Mazda B-Series compact pickup truck. The Mark 4 Mazda B3000 pickup truck was first released in 1994 featuring a V6 engine. The car was in production until 1996 when it was dropped from the Mark 4 lineup. The Mazda B3000 was no longer manufactured solely by Mazda but shared components with the Ford Ranger. In 1998, a new Mazda B3000 was introduced. This version of the Mazda B3000 belonged to the Mark 5 Mazda B-Series pickup trucks. The design of the truck was again shared with that of the Ford Ranger. The production of the Mark 5 Mazda B3000 ended in 2001. Newer 3.0 litre versions of the Mazda B-Series have also been released for the 2002 to 2003 model years and for the 2004 up to the present model years. However, these may no longer be considered as Mazda B3000 models due to the decision of Mazda to drop the B-Series naming convention and to use the simpler Mazda Truck marque for its compact pickup trucks. The Mark 4 Mazda B3000 was a 2 door compact pickup truck which was available with either a regular pickup truck bed or with an extended pickup truck bed. The standard layout for the Mark 4 Mazda B3000 was a front engine rear wheel drive layout. A four wheel drive layout was offered as an option. the engine used for the Mark 4 Mazda B3000 was a Vulcan 3.0 litre V6 engine capable of 140 hp for the 1994 model year. For the 1995 to 1996 model year, it had a Vulcan 3.0 litre V6 engine capable of an output of 145 hp. The available transmissions were a 4 speed automatic transmission and a 5 speed manual transmission. The Mark 5 Mazda B3000 was still a 2 door compact pickup truck available with either a regular bed or an extended bed. The layout of the truck was available as either a front engine rear wheel drive layout or as a four wheel drive layout. There was only a single engine available which was a Vulcan 3.0 litre V6 engine with an output of 150 hp. The available transmissions for the Mark 5 Mazda B3000 was a 5 speed automatic, a 5 speed manual and a 4 speed automatic transmission. No class leader, a second hand Mazda B3000 still offers a convincing package for most second hand compact pickup truck car buyers. However, comparison with the Ford Ranger is recommended as both trucks are virtually mechanical twins. Related Bookmarks
