Positioned as the flag ship model of Toyota, the Toyota Avalon is a full size sedan manufactured by Toyota. The first of the cars were introduced in 1994 as a 1995 car model. It has been in continuous production up to the present and has been one of the top sellers in the Toyota car lineup.
When Toyota discontinued the upper level mid size Toyota Cressida, they had a gap in their car line up. Toyota filled this gap by releasing the full size Toyota Avalon while the Toyota Camry was positioned in the mid size car market having been previously stretched from a compact car format. The Toyota Avalon was then positioned as the flagship model of the Toyota car company. Thus, the Toyota Avalon has always been released with the best that Toyota has to offer. The Toyota Avalon has gone through three generations of production. The first generation of the Toyota Avalon made quite a splash in the market. Notable features included a front bench seat reminiscent of older American cars which gave the Toyota Avalon the ability to seat six persons with three in the front and three in the back. The second generation of the Toyota Avalon was made larger. It is the first vehicle to offer a 115 volt AC power inverter. The second generation of the Toyota Avalon suffered from a bit of an identity crisis being too similar to the Toyota Camry in looks. The third generation of the Toyota Avalon was completely redesigned. It was made larger than previous models and featured a more aggressive styling. The third generation of the Toyota Avalon sold well in the North American car market.
The latest model of the Toyota Avalon is its 2008 model. The 2008 Toyota Avalon features a number of minimal aesthetic redesigns. Its still a front engine, front wheel, 4 door sedan. Trim options available for the 2008 Toyota Avalon is the XL, Touring, XLS and Limited trims. A 3.5 litre V6 engine capable of 268 hp drives the Avalon. Transmission available is 6 speed automatic transmission which replaced the previous year's five speed automatic. Base features of the car include ABS, anti-skid system, traction control, front side airbags, curtain side airbags and leather upholstery. The Toyota Avalon has always been one of the most competitive car models in its car market segment. For the 2008 model of the car, that has not changed. The powerful engine of the Toyota Avalon gives it excellent acceleration and speed. The new six speed transmission always knows what gear to use. The suspension of the 2008 Toyota Avalon is very capable, smothering small to medium road annoyances. Steering gives adequate response but could use a bit more work. The 2008 Toyota Avalon corners easily but tight turns at high speeds gives a bit of body lean.
The Toyota Avalon gives great value for the money. Some competitors are more powerful and luxurious but not by much. Also, Toyota has always been known for solid and reliable cars and the Toyota Avalon. Headlights by State: ______________________
