Chevy's redesigned Avalanche 1500 has retained its forebear's midgate magic though the entire package has been overhauled to be part of GM's full-size truck platform revamp. Although it's overwhelmed by a few low-tech parts, Avalanche is not a bad driving machine at all as it provides a refined ride while plenty of luxury features and a much-improved interior are shown off over its predecessor. The Chevrolet Avalanche 1500 originated as GM's solution to the strained tradeoff flanked by pickup truck bed space and cab space. As the crew cab pickups became conventional around 2000, the roomy, four-door cabins seemed invigorating though required with shorter cargo beds, which have actually brought significant drawback. The 2002 Avalanche addressed such issue with a hoax midgate that folded down, extending the bed into the cab. For 2005, a chrome exterior package including stainless-steel assist steps became available for LS models. Both the LS and LT were revised with their interior trim. General Motors' OnStar communication system and steering-wheel-mounted radio controls are also made standard in all models. This has effectively allowed turning a short-bed crew cab into a long-bed regular cab. The redesigned 2007 Avalanche has retained the midgate magic but has been overhauled. Almost all features of from the Chevrolet Suburban SUV to the GMC Sierra pickup was enhanced for 2007. Old Avalanches have body cladding, which is replaced with integrated rocker panels and bumpers for the new Chevrolet Avalanche 1500. The face is jeweled with headlights and a preponderant grille, with gold bowtie at the front and center. The craggy yet refined look is pleasing even when you at it from different angles. Some of the elements of the previous model are still present on the recent year model. These include the triangular pillars stretching downward from the cab's C-pillars to the bed. On the suspension, the coil-over-shock has replaced the previous torsion bar arrangement. This is lighter and has reduced fore-aft stiffness for smoother ride. The chassis swallowed irregularities from the road, while getting minimal cabin disturbance. Under the hood, a 5.3-liter V-8 in the four-wheel-drive Avalanche LTZ is creating 310 horsepower and 335 pounds-feet torque. The two-wheel-drive models carry a different engine with slightly higher output, with a 6.0-liter V-8 is optional across the board. Old Avalanche had a heavy-duty model with an 8.1-liter V-8, but has been dropped because of low demand. These 3 engines come with four-speed automatic transmission and the cylinder deactivation system shuts down the four cylinders in low-load situations for better gas mileage. A rear-drive Avalanche 1500 is designed to tow up to 8,200 pounds when properly equipped. A maximum of 12,000 pounds towing capacity for the 2500 series is also a significant figure to consider. Chevrolet Avalanche 1500 is one pleasant highway cruiser as resembled by its good steering transmission and excellent fuel mileage. Not only that the towing capacity and overall endurance to road disturbances are also considered positive points. So if you are looking for a more refined ride with great interior features, this Chevy model is among the best choices. Related Bookmarks
