The Kia Amanti, also known as the Kia Opirus, is a full size or executive car manufactured by the South Korean car company Kia Motors. The car was first introduced in 2003 and has won a few praises mainly for its blend of luxurious styling and unconventionally low pricing.
The Kia Amanti is the first entry of the Kia car company to the large car market. The Kia car company has notably partnered with Hyundai, another Korean car company, to create a few of its car models. The Kia Amanti is no different. A significant number of components of the Kia Amanti is taken off the Hyundai XG Grandeur. The car is sold only in one trim and is available only as a sedan. Entering a car market segment that is full of big name luxury car makers, the Kia Amanti is definitely up against some considerable competition. To compensate, the Kia car company is offering the Kia Amanti at a relatively low price compared to its other competitors. The warranty of the Kia Amanti is also the standard 10 years/100,000 mile warranty which adds up to the appeal of the car. The Kia Amanti also includes a lot of opulent features and, in the 2007 model, it topped the IIHS side-impact crash tests, getting a "Good" rating, outscoring a few of its more upscale priced luxury car competitors. Sales for the Kia Amanti have been slow to pick up even with the evidently better value for money of the car. Many argue that this is mainly due to a low brand perception for Kia. However, it is evident that, while the Kia Amanti is a solid performer, with its derivative design and conventional features, it does not carry enough wow factor for its intended customers.
Among the components that the Kia Amanti received from its Hyundai XG Grandeur predecessor is its engine. Upon launch, the Kia Amanti carried the 3.5 litre engine of the XG Grandeur. It was also sold in a single trim level only and is still sold as such as well. The engine of the Kia Amanti is front mounted and it is a front wheel drive car. The latest model available for the Kia Amanti is the 2008 model. The basic trim of the car is essentially the same as the older models. The engine is still the V6 3.8 litre engine first introduced in the 2007 model. The engine output is an impressive 264 hp. The transmission for the car is available only as a five speed automatic. Features of the Kia Amanti includes traction control, ABS, an antiskid sustem, frontal airbags, rear side airbags and curtain side airbags. Optional features include a sunroof, power adjustable pedals, memory system for the driver seat, leather trims and heated front seats. The Kia Amanti handles reasonably well, although the suspension is on the soft side which makes the car prone to bumps. The powerful engine is capable in any situation and the transmission is performs well. Handling is a bit uncoordinated and the car leans noticeably when cornering. The fuel efficiency of the Kia Amanti is also just about average for its class.
The Kia Amanti is perfect for those who want a luxury car on a budget. The Amanti has a luxurious, if a bit derivative look. Performance wise, it is also just about par with what can be expected from a car in its class. There is a lack of wow factor in this car but that shouldn't stop anyone looking for great value for their money. Headlights by State: ______________________
