It may be called a vehicle of Dodge in the market, but the Dodge Ram 50 is a compact pick-up truck that was produced by Mitsubishi Motors. In fact this vehicle was sold by Mitsubishi Motors as well under its line up as the Mitsubishi Forte and the Mitsubishi Triton. Taking the name-calling aside, the D50 of Dodge and the Triton and the Forte of Mitsubishi shared general characteristics in terms of performance and construction.
The market saw the introduction of the Dodge Ram in 1979 and its production has lasted until 1986 and the production was courtesy of Mitsubishi Motors. The vehicle was on sale from 1979 up to 1993. Dodge wasn’t only the recipient of this truck from Mitsubishi vehicles as Plymouth as well marketed the same vehicle and re-named the truck as the Arrow Truck which was sold for a short period of time.
The year 1982 was a significant time for the model since this is the time when the four wheel drive version was made available, and this was what the market knows as the Power Ram 50. The performance of the vehicle was then upgraded after some time with the introduction of the turbo diesel engine that was used on the US version of the vehicle. The turbo diesel-version of the Dodge 50 was made available to the truck-buying public from 1983 to 1986. The redesign of the Dodge 50 didn’t stop with the introduction of the turbo diesel engine. Again by 1987, the vehicle was redesigned once again. The vehicle made use of a number of engines and these engines was used in different model years. For the vehicles that were introduced from 1979 up to 1982, the 2L version 4G52 I4 engine was used and this engine created 93 horsepower. This was also the time when the, the 2.6L version was an option as well and the 4G54 SOHC engine has the capability to produce 105 horsepower or 78kW. The years from 1983 until 1986 saw the introduction of the 2.3L and the 4D55T turbo diesel engine that has the capability of making 84 horsepower. The years 1990 until 1993 saw two versions of the engine, the first one was the 2.4L 4G64 and the second one was the 3.0L 6G72.
Performance-wise, the D50 submits good power thanks to its engines. For example the 1990 to 1993 versions of the vehicles, its engines can submit 116 horsepower for the I4 engine and another 142 horsepower for the V6 version of the engine. Headlights by State: ______________________
